Oh! Very effective.

Mixing up the older minis without all the trimmings actually works quite well.

Love the banners as well - it is something I have not been doing however I feel I may be missing out on something after seeing some of these.

Thanks Boyz !! Yes, our standard is no flock on most bases ... the Chess Piece look. We started with SM1 in '90. And like that look ... Flocking bases didn't start until SM2 ... we were never really fans of much of that system ... We are very, very old school ...

if the bases are going to stay black, I'm not sure there's enough contrast. at TT distance, it'll just be a dark blob.
