Yep, I tape around a dozen or so together with masking tape and then use a 1/4" drill bit to make the holes. Constant, even pressure with a fast spinning bit is the key to not chewing the bases up. I then stick magnetic adhesive stuff on the underside to keep everything together.

...And some more non-epic SG stuff. My Warmaster vampire counts army from the recent tourney in New Hampshire:

Until the tourney, they were my "good luck" army. But this weekend they went 0-2-1. :-[

With the long weekend for MLK day here in the States, I've been able to get a lot of painting done, with still more to be accomplished today :) So, further updates, this time strictly epic:

The daemonettes are done. I like how these turned out, even though the models aren't the best. In hindsight, I should've painted them up like a horde of Dr. Zoidbergs.

For fluff reasons, as mentioned above, I'm sticking with slaanesh and plausible additions for an EC-flavored BL army. So, my other set of lessor daemons consists of Daemonic Beasts. For this I'm using riderless discs. My feelings on them right now are decidedly 'meh', but at least their incomplete paintjob gave me a good name for them: "meat puppets"

That's Old Rose (Vallejo) with a wash of ogryn flesh. I'll drybrush with the old rose, and probably give them a purple highlight or two. Or simple green :P

Next, what I hope will become one of the signature units of the army, my termies. Someone on dakkadakka painted up theirs purple with gold edging, and I decided to follow suit. The heads will be black-washed bone so they stick out a bit, and the power fists will be washed silver. The tedious prospect of putting all that gold on them stopped me cold at this stage of completion last night:

All that purple was tedious enough for one day 8)

looking good Matt

(what, did I say that? argh!)

jeez, what a load of crap, you should be disgusted with yourself

(phew, that's better)

I think the Daemonettes look great, but it's the fact that they're on grey bases that hurts them - the grey of their snippetysnips is the same as the base, making them blend in and only leaving the pink bodies standing out. Can you can blotches or colour or grass/ sand/something to the bases to make more contrast? Just IMO.

hmmm... good point. I think some blotches are possibility, and shouldn't be too hard to pull off.

On another matter: objectives. For those of you who are familiar with futurama (best cartoon ever), I figured a good blitz objective for the EC would be a terminator-sized Hedonism Bot ("jimji - the chocolate!"). Unfortunately, I don't have the skill to build one completely from scratch, and don't have a clue as to where to start conversion-wise. So my question to the epic community is, do you have any suggestions for an epic-scale hedonism bot?

The high-tech Japanese toilet from the latest season came to mind, but that would be a little too obscure/small.
[as toilet is being heaved into dumpster at New NY e-waste turn-in:]
Japanese toilet: Please... not to throw away... me give you good... poopy-time
Fry: you know too much.
:P

I used the 'happy poopy time' joke on Yen just last week.

I've got a 3D model of the Masked Unit. Would that help? You would have to pay the printing costs.

Ha!

I wouldn't want to butcher such a fine creation in trying to make a hedonism bot.

...but, masked units might work very well for AM objectives or pretorians... what kind of costs are we talking about, O-man? PM me if this isn't a topic for public discussion.

Perhaps a sprue of hedonism bots and masked units is in order? ;D

Very nice stuff, also great to see the vampires in action.

I am also looking forward to the objective marker!

Can hardly wait to see your Termies finished (and have the chance to send them back to the warp).

Only half-way done with that and I still have the silver after that. Ugh.
