Rules about Ork Roks and Hulks?

Shalom Everyone,

Before I started my Ork BFG fleet, I put together the "Ork Battul Book" by xeroxing all the Ork rules from various sources into one 3-ring binder. It makes it much easier to come to a game with the "Ork Battul Book" and a copy of the rules rather than Warp Storm, an Annual, half a dozen magazines and the like. However I'm running into problems with the rules.

Here are my questions:

1. Do Ork Hulks and Roks use the far left defence targetting column?

- We played this way during my last game (the Hulk is darned bog after all), but I could find no support for this rules in the published material.

2. Do Ork Hulks and Roks count as capital ships or special for victory points / prestige at the end of the game?

- We played that they counted as special at the end of the game so they didn't count as hulks for prestige points.

3. Ork Hulks are specifically noted as never running out of ordinance even on doubles, but what about Roks?

- They are also huge like the hulk so we played that Roks don't run out of ordinance. It makes sense, but the rules don't state what to do unless I'm misreading them.

4. Anyone hate the ability to choose criticals on the Hulk?

- We did so my partner (a former Ork player using the Eldar this time out) agreed to randomize critical hits and we both liked it better. It was simple metter to assign the criticals numbers on a D6.

- Yes, in the description it says "Hulk 40/Defense" or "Rok 8/Defense" or something similar.


2. Do Ork Hulks and Roks count as capital ships or special for victory points / prestige at the end of the game?

- Not sure, sorry.


3. Ork Hulks are specifically noted as never running out of ordinance even on doubles, but what about Roks?

- Roks would follow the normal rules since it doesn't state otherwise.  Besides, just use the new ordnance rules and you'll be fine.


4. Anyone hate the ability to choose criticals on the Hulk?

- House rules are fine, but being it's such a large target they can probably scan it to determine what systems to hit.  So picking the critical seems fine to me.

I know the Ork fleet list was re-printed in the 2002 Annual, so I would suppose the most up to date rules are in that.
