Another close game. We called the game in the 4th turn due to time, the Guard could have took the 'nids to points by denying them Blitz (double with Russes) and TSNP (march with Storm Trooper and Valk). 'Nids would have just had DTF.

Matt, can you post your list?

Also got a vassal game in with Matt the Muppet, tyring to put that together from memory is tough though. 'nids lost in the third to Ulthwe when Vassal game me three failed Warrior saves to give Matt BTS, he then marched to get T&H.

so much AT vs. so many infantry :)

what were your impressions of the list Matt, particularly the spawning and Warriors being LV?

Dave, if you need a hand with the Vassal batrep, let me know, we should be able to figure it out together.

I'll post it this week at somepoint, along with the other two of the weekend. It'll probably be stripped down though, the pictures aren't all that helpful in retrospect.

I think the spawning is a good way to go - it allows you (as Dave and uberchris did later in the week) to use traditional BTS with the 'nids. LV warriors are too easy to snipe. Its fun to do it as an opponent, but still.
When I played the 'nids, I was surprised at how hard it was to get a viable arty formation. I'm not sure I liked that. Of course, Dave seems to get along fine without it.

Independant arty is coming in the next version. I'll probably put it out once we get one or two more guard playtests in.

On unit stats:
this (and other games) have revealed (to me, at least) that some of them are kind of out there. Gene stealers should not have 2 attacks at 4+ per base. The DC on the war engines also seems a bit out of control. The Dom is not the size of a warlord and the harridan should be back down to 3DC. I realize that this was intended to represent regeneration, but the ability to re-grow a limb or two should not translate into more cc/ff attacks.

perhaps drop the DC and add invulnerable saves then?

'stealers are only nasty if you let them get into CC, they're pretty useless otherwise. They're like roughriders, if you tone them down no one will want to take them.
