Looking very good!

I think your Haruspex needs a smaller head though - maybe try a Ripper's head for size? Smaller heads make the models look bulkier without making the model bigger too.

The Zoanthrope looks like an excellent start too - what size base is that, 2mm x 25mm?

I agree wholeheartedly, I may give it a try since the head looks way out of proportion, it just happened to be what I had sitting around.

Thank you and the base is 20mm x 20mm x 2mm I am going to post later in the other post i made about basing, I want to watch what size I base things lest I get cheesed in close combat.

Over the last few days, I got a process together to build the Zoanthropes, so now I have 2 Card's worth and a 3rd I could get done in 2 hours or so.

I have also started on my Carnifexes and Razorfexes, I am simply using unmodified DRM Medium Beast #2s as the Carnifexes (unless I come up on about 14 more pair of Geanstealer claws) For the Razorfexes, I am using a modified DRM Medium Beast #1 with full scale 'gant arms. I am using Spinefists and Devourers as the left and right arms.

Carnifex and Razorfex side by side

Looking like very good Zoanthrope proxies! Are you using plasticard for he head armour?

Also looks like the DRM bugs are a good base for 'Fexes. 8)

I am, I am using .005 (.13mm) for the head armor and .015 (.4mm) for the claws and back plates. I use Lacquer thinner to bond the styrene and soften it for the bend and give it some texture

They are great models, some of the casting artifacts are a bit frustrating and the metal is a bit soft for my liking, but otherwise amazing minis!

Thanks for the tip, that will make a lot of my conversions easier, and I won;t have to try to press cast bits either :)

Now that I know I can get 'stealer claws en masse, I went ahead and re-clawed my carnifexes

Heh, I really like the oversized claws, and the hunched look they give the models. Good job with all of these; it's a real pleasure to see them coming together into a recognisable force!

I hafta admit that when it comes to these I am taking a bit of artistic license with the size of the claws :). When I think Tyranids, I think Teeth, and claws and I want those to be a focal point of the model!

After some time off for a Kids visit, my next prototype is an Excrine, awaiting greenstuff and some tubes at the back of the guns.

No pictures tonight, but just to keep in the process of blogging...

Last few weeks since I pulled everything back out have been less than productive, but I had my first experiences casting some spare bits for my conversions (went better than average). I have spent a good bit of time with brake fluid and my old titans getting them stripped and cleaned up for new paint jobs when I redo my imperial army soon. I also have had my first experience with GreenStuff. While I am definitely not a sculptor I am relatively happy with my results last night and I found it not too hard to work with (my biggest problem was getting too much and having to try to reduce my overuse. I also found out that my 13 year old tube of Squadron is pretty much dried too much to be useful. my eyes are too bad to paint without help anymore (even 2.5 diopter reading glasses only help a little) so I am going to have to wait for much painting till my fiancee gives me the magnavisor for Christmas!

So a few questions to my folks here:

1) what is being used for filler these days? Squadron? GS? I seem to make a huge mess with squadron and GS so maybe it is a technical issue on my part!
2) I just was not having much luck shaping the green stuff last night, even after 30 minutes I couldn't get the arm shapes on my trial Lictor to look like anythign but blobs any hints or tools that might be better than the standard sculpting set that hobby shops carry?
