I have no skill at making custom bikes

My skill with a hammer however, to change an object into something else is unsurpassed. :D

Back onto the project : Have completed the Black, Red and Gold on the Berserkers. Will touch up the 'metal' parts and base them, and then get onto the Slaughterfiends. I want to make each Slaughterfiend unique on it's base so I may need the entire 3 weeks at this rate.

I have made some good progress and am up to the stage of basing the 5 Berserker stands.

It occured to me that I never did provide the source of inspiration for the two tone berserkers, so here we are:

No doubt the scale of Epic requires some 'give and take' :)

Hoping to have pics of completed Berserkers up on Friday (fingers crossed)

I am making some awesome timing painting the Bloodpack.

Here are the five Berserker bases completed:

Here is the comparrison shot of the two types (variants) of berserker stands I have painted.

At present the one on the right are my Khorne Berserkers. When I get enough stands painted up (24 to be exact), they will be my World Eater Legionaires and the 'all reds' will be my Khorne Berserkers.

I have also started on the next phase of the project ... the Slaughterfiends:

Looks better in person, however notice the colouring on the claws; I love the old Chestnut Ink! :) It is supposed to be dried blood. I still have more work to do which includes getting a blue tinge on the power flail.

Something missing? You guessed it, the rider.

Here is the first that I am going to start on. I am pinning him on - is that too extreme?

Wow, they're looking good!

My only suggestion would be to consider bone or white faces for the 'Zerkers like the old RT one you've posted up perhaps? Looks more skull-like, and helps the face stand out more (as I think it gets a bit lost in the surrounding red parts at the moment).

Looking forward to seeing what these look like as a finished formation, heh. :)

Well I just super-glued them on and they have yet to fall off, but pinning can't hurt ;D Slaughterfiend looks great, makes me want to go back and repaint mine :P Make sure you keep full-res pictures, encase i ever get time to do more on that WE modelling guide ...not sure where all the files went actually, changed computer/OS a fair few times in the last year ::) ...hmm

Good point. Each formation is led by a Skull Lord and it is them that I save the skull masks for as I need to be able to distinguish them from the other units. The fact that Khorne does not care for heraldic banners and other fanfare means that I am trying to keep the force very minimalist with only slight variations throughout the force. I do see your point however. The pictures do not do what I have justice however - I just do not have appropriate lighting set up and most times things are either too dark or washed out with the pictures I am taking :(

Actually, it depends on how far you go back. If I want to be true to the old Realm of Chaos books, the World Eaters kept one piece of their old armour (Blue /white) with their red (a peicemeal look) as a reminder from where they came.

Then there is the background or rumour that their armour slowly turned red with the blood of their enemies. So in fact, to be true to the original background, one would have to paint one or two blue/white panels on the armour - much like Marine #3 in the examples I provided at the top of this page.

Reality is however that at an Epic scale, it would look as if you did not finish the mini, so I am stuck with red, black and gold. To break it up a bit, I have to admit that I am guilty and a blasphemer to boot :)

Edit: There is also the whole idea that the right hand was always red on the World Eaters. This is also evidenced on the third model in the example. I may do this for the next lot of berserkers...

Well, I still think it will help break up the red (also in the army generally). If you want to mark out the Skull Lords, why not just do a unique scheme for that specific model in the stand? They could be in bronze with a white skull and red weapons for example. And having a model that has a different colour from the rest in the stand is quite common anyway (look at Imperial Commissars, Marine Librarians, Chaplains, Tech Marines, etc). Finally, doing the Skull Lords in their own scheme helps the owning player identify the model in the cases where the stand is turned away from him (so you wouldn't be able to see the faces anyway, even though your opponent can). As I said though, I'm just trying to be helpful! :P

My World Eaters are going to be blue and white with varying degrees of blood spatter. Makes them useful both as PH and as post-H.

I dunno, what's more iconic? Red zerkers as WEs or Black-hybrid as WEs? It's the World Eaters list yeah? Which one do you think folks will see as World Eaters (having known them in their current GW ilk) when you whack em on the table? Just food for thought anyhoo. I like what you've done so far, especially the Defilers.

Well if you run Heavy Bolter again, I may take these as a 'counts as' for a Chaos (Black Legion) force. Then I will have no end of people confusing the list for World Eaters and you will be asked many times: "what list is he playing?" :D
