How does things being covered with scouts make any difference to the pylon? They don't block line of sight unless they're war engines.

:-\ I still think eveything blocks line of sight... Cry

Okay some sound advice I will make up another and try it out against my next foe. How do you deal with terminators? I placed my pylon in the last game and then he placed his termies in assault range, got the priority and killed it.

Possibly have the distraction there so I can assault him elsewhere.

Yep, termies will usually go after the pylon. Just stick the pylon out on its own somewhere nowhere near objectives and the 400ish points of termies will be wasted for the rest of the game after killing the 200 point pylon.

Hehe, that is so true, Z. Terminators are a problem for ANY formation, but they show up, kill everything, and then look around and say, "Hey? Where's the party?"

It's far from being so clear-cut.

If those terminators can remove the Necron AA to allow the SM THawks to swoop in and assault things then its still worth the effort.

Plus I could well see that with no-AA a THawk could well come back the next turn to pick up the Terminators to recycle them for another assault.

Putting your AA in an isolated position is not always the best answer.

True, but as Mosc said, terminators are a problem for just about everything in just about every army. Short of scout screens garisonning, which necrons can't do, there's not much you can do about it.

Being fearless with living metal the pylon is actually quite likely to survive a terminator engagement, albeit breaking in the process.

Terminators + character = 9 attacks 3+ = 6 hits (MW ignored due to living metal.

That's on average 1.5 DC of damage, so half the time it'll probably survive terminators in the face.

Although it cannot flee after the engagement. Maybe we played the rule wrong but the pylon took one point of actual damage from the termies. It lost and then because it could not get out of 5cm it took 1 extra point of damage for each unit within that range... So 4.

You played it wrong. ;D

If a Fearless model moves, it must move more than 5m from an enemy, or take damage as described. But it's not required to move.

When broken or otherwise forced to take a withdrawal move, Fearless units may choose not to withdraw. Fearless units that remain stationary do not take additional damage. If the unit elects to withdraw it will take damage only if it ends its move within 5cm of the enemy rather than 15cm.
