You know... alternate turrets with non-ordered insignia would be cool and make it more multipurpose.

Aren't such things already made by Specialist Games?

No, indeed. The only GW Chaos for Epic is the infantry sprue.

Aren't the SG Space Marine turrets acceptable? Or is the inability to purchase bitz a hinderance?

They are not clearly un-ordered.

When the bits order service dried up more than a few people cried.

No insignia and no bitz orders.

I think there is a deffinate requirement to make the bits with insignia on them and it would be a cost prohibitive exercise to buy GW items just to get the bits. Love the work guys, cannot wait to trade with the otter again.

Cheers

Inspired by this thread, I found an old Raubtier turret, and decided to CAD it up. I'm liking the look so far, but it still needs some work. Obviously, Otterman can do a much better job, but I like the "retro" feel to it, rather than the sharp, angular, "modern" feel of the new Ordered turrets. I was considering the hatch lid, and figured that would be the best place to put an insignia - then I thought that if that part was separate, multiple insignia styles could be created and added as the user feels necessary. Not sure how that would work though, since the scale is so small.
Just a thought... I'll play some more, because this designing is pretty fun!

Heya Monkey, I had a similar thought for variant turrets, but with more trivial changes.

Since the prototype and bronze cost for a turret is minimal (around $15), the only real decisions to make are:
1) Should the variant turrets get their own production mold? Costs $40, more inventory to manage.
2) If not (2), then what should the ratio of classic turret to Monkey turrets be?
3) Will people fuss if they get too many Monkey turrets, not enough Monkey turrets, etc?

In short, I endorse this concept and/or product.

Personally, I'm in the market for both Ordered and Non-Ordered, so I'm easy. Playing devil's-advocate though, I don't know what people who are only in the market for Non-Ordered would think of mixing the types. Is variety really the spice of life? It is a mystery...

From an army list unit-quantity standpoint though, you're allowed 4-8 vehicles per unit for Non-Ordered armies, and 4 per unit for Ordered armies, if I remember correctly.

As for the variant I was play-designing, should I actually buckle down and complete it? Or are you working on a similar design, Otterman?

I'm making the standard autocannon version, but I would welcome yours as a variant. So yes, please complete your current work. Make sure the barrel is at least 1mm in diameter. That seems to be a survivable thickness.
