If it is, then it's basically what I've been doing with my IG though with a much quicker effect using a drybrush for the white and washes of black to shade a gray basecoat before washing with the color I want.
Yep Vaaish, that's basically it for this model.
Subsequent models will actually be done in gradients of color over black versus just as an undercoat. The advantage is really the smooth transitions & it is
completely overkill for a Gunwagon.
Larger models, like Gargants, are a far better target for this sort of thing, but if I can strike a balance on the weathering, the model will "pop" more because you will see the base layer more clearly. As Apoc pointed out, the weathering was a bit OTT & obscured much of the effect.
Thankfully, it's really quick work with an airbrush and it gives me an excuse to get better on airbrushing tiny stuff.
