hy , i'm meeting my french friend Clement today. now he live in Italy so we can play some games in a month. Last time he want a game to warmaster , but this time i propose him an epic match. He played epic at space marines era (like me  i started play Gw games with adeptus titanicus and space marines) but is some years that have an epic match. So he read the new rules and we try a game. My list is mainly War engine because i want to play my 3 death whell and 3 decimator (this game i only play 2 deathwhell) but i think for his first match was  a little too difficult so this match can't be a really attendable test. Now some photos of the battlefield (unfortunatly i totally forgot to do other photo , maybe next game i remmeber   )

We play on long edge with my blitz more on the bottom left and his on the centre up, i place 2 objectives on the left side near the centre , he placed the other 2 on the right side near centre line.
I start the game with a deathwhell advance and shoot on his wave serpent with aspect for 1 bm , i retained with the other deathwheel and advance for another Bm on aspect warrior (doh damned reinf armor)
Then try double with guardian with wraith , but fail and move 1 time.
I advanced my garrisoned retinue and shoot the falcon formation , 1 Bm for them , i retained with my defiler and do a double i shoot again the falcon (he placed them too much in my los) killed 2 of them and break that formation.  
Now i'm going to dinner i'll continue after

ok i continue , the eldar now sustained with the night spinner and place  3 bm without killing any of the caos marines retinue , he retain with the  plain guardian and march them on the righmost objectives near the marines retinue. I acitivate my raptor near my blitz and overwatch them just to use 1 activation.he use the scorpion and drop 2 shield to 1 deathwheel.Then  he advance with the jetbike and place a bm on the same deathwhell of before.With his last activation he double the aspect warrior near my decimator and 1 deathwhell and put a bm on the decimator.
Falcon didn't rally and remain broken , near all the other  formation rally.

2 ° turn     he won the roll and assualt the decimator , unfurtunately for him 1 death whell is near enough to support. The the decimator lose the combat with 2 remain war engine (1 with only 1 dc) but the aspect warrior lost 2 wave and 1dire avenger , really near to break.then he retain and assualt with the plain guardian the defiler. After a 3 round combat (the first round i was +1 before the roll and i score snake eyes , but my opponent roll double 2 lol)the defiler are destroyed and the guardian are broken with only farsight and 1 stand. in my turn i engage with the raptor andthe support of the deathwheel the aspect warrior ; at the end of the combat my chaos lord save him with the invu saves and let the raptor remain in 3 with 2 blast , aspect warrior are destroyed thanks to the deathwhell support (with four 3+ ff attack he killed 3 aspect by himself). My opponent then shoot with scorpion on the same death wheel drop 1 shield and do 1 dc damage. i forgot to tell in the 1 turn my decimator advance and shoot on the bike killing only 1 and placing 2 bm , he dind' t leave the bm in the rally phase. He sustained with the night spinner killing 1 marines and placing 2 bm ; then i marshal with my chaos retinue leaving all the bm(thanks to leader) and placing 1 on the guardian with wraith lord.Then he engage with jetbike my deathwhell (bad move)i won the combat leaving 3 jetbikes and 1 vyper and taking no damages. Then his last move was a double with guardian and wraith but he fail again so he advance near my chaos retinue (not enough to get wraithlord in cac range ).
In the rally phase  the falcon and jetbikes didn't rally and neither my decimator . At the moment caos have 2 (bts and take and hold ) eldar  nothing.
3 turn eldar won initiative .  Avatar come on the table and with the guardian and wraith engage the caos retinue holdin 1 eldar object. At the end of combat 3 broken caos marine withdraw near a wood and 2 wraithlord and 6 guardian consolidate on the eldar object (farseer was to near and die , so now eldar have 1 point (take and hold).
He retain with the scorpion and place another bm on the same deathwhell (now have 3 but he can't seriuosly damage the war engine ; i think scorpion have tk so i've say my friend to try it).he retain and try double with night spinner to break the  doomwhell but it is too far so he shoot to the other a little near to him doing only 2 bm.At this point i march with my raptor taking his blitz (the night spinner are 10 cm away so can't contest), at this point he can try only one thing to change to score from 3-1 to 2-1 but his move don't end good , so we end here with a massive caos victory.
This is his first time with armageddon rules so isn't a proper test , next time we try stalker for chaos and nightwing for the eldar ; and i try to play a little less war engine (i love that minis i have to play them now that they are all painted.)

Surprising that the Eldar did that well since they really didn´t have too much that could hurt all those WEs!

Good to see your opponent go for all those assaults, it is a common beginners mistake to try and shoot one´s way out of everything, and being so badly outgunned as in this battle it would not have been pretty.

Btw, for intros I used to pick both lists in order to guarantee a fair match-up, or rather I ask people what they would like to play and then pick suitable targets...

sounds like an interesting game. Assaulting RA war engines with infantry is almost always going to end badly Don't forget that the distance for capturing/ contesting objectives is 15cm, not 10cm, which may have made a difference. Also, wraithguard are a far better fit for Guardians (cheaper too) as they're FF specialists.

next game (3k point) i tell him i play 3 deathwheel and 2 decimator so he can raise the anti tank power. He totally forgot of 15 cm for the objectives , but in reality he didn't espect that raptor with a march move can arrive to his blitz (they are 20-25 cm in my part of the table).
I help him with some moves , but he want to double and then assualt the decimator. I tell him isn't a really good moves (i tell "you risk your bts in the middle of my army ")but now he had understand how support fire can change the engage result with easy. So next time i think he move better the troops for an engaement. Next game we test stalker and eldar aircraft.

I forgot , the battlefield is good ? there is too much cover or is ok for you?
