In this game, frogbear and mattthemuppet finally find some time to hook up on Vassal and have a game.

No Necrons set up.

- World Eaters set up with Bikes and Both Chosen to the left of the board.
- Defilers in the middle
- All other units to the right hand side to protect the Blitz
- Berserkers with Bloodgors garrison on the right hand side.

Warbarque had SC and the Flayed Ones had a Lord, in case anyone's wondering where those 75pts went to :) Played the Pylon with a 90cm 4+ (Tk1) shot and used the new "void shield" Necron rule where each rallying unit received back either a dead Necron stand OR removed an extra BM.

Don't forget to mention your bazillion invincible sorry, invulnerable saves :)

are the pictures correct? if so your missing a monolith in each of the formations (forget the new names, i think the phalanx). should be 3 monoliths and if you purchased one more as it says in the army list, you should have 4 total in each formation.
also the pylon should only be 90 cms for the AA shot.
not trying to be anal, but something to keep in mind for next game.
then again, there is never any necron battle reports so i probably overslept and this is all a dream.

I think the monolith thing is just a miscommunication - I didn't take any upgrades for either of my monolith phalanxes, just the vanilla 3 each. The pylon we did play with a 90cm AA4+ shot (see my post above) though it made little difference as the planes were either in range or it was broken. Useful fire magnet but not much else :)

Hopefully that will change. I plan on playing against or playing with Necrons more in the near future.

No doubt I will read up on the NetEA vesion before the next game   :)

The first turn was quite chaotic with the Necrons assaulting the right hand side while quickly taking out all the fast formations on the left side of the board.

- Hellblades lay a BM on Monoliths and avoid Pylon shooting (haha)
- RHS Monolith formations move forward with Stargating Phalanxes opf Necrons popping out for FF assaults and then using their consolidations to step back through the stargates. In doing this they smash the garrison Berserker unit to 2 units.

- Beastmen and other units move around for 2nd round
- Pylon becomes broken thanks to Cannons of Khorne

- Flayed ones attacked the Chosen w/ Wings and were destroyed themselves, yet left 2 broken chosen to run towards the ruins.
- LHS Monoliths moved to shoot at the Bike units and then followed this up with a Phalanx to FF assault the bikes wiping them out - stupid armour saves.
- Chosen on Slaughterfiends Charge Phalanx and fall prey to supporting fire of Monoliths (9 shots!) and somehow end up wiped out (????)

The result with Necron Phalanx holding on, yet broken



- Warbarque moves forward to shoot at Defilers (2 die - stupid saves) and they run forwards.


- Phalanx jumps out to FF assault these. Defilers lose again and use their Double move again to head towards the Blitz. Necron player curses the fact that he has allowed the defilers an 80cm move down the board   :laugh:

Turn 2


The game quickly degenerated for the World Eaters as they could not combat the FF assaults and did not have the firepower to take down the Monoliths and Warbarque.

The living Metal was a significant pain to the Cannons of Khorne who were shooting units like gems (4 hits on 4 dice at 5+ !!)

The teleporting in and out Necrons were a hassle for them as well

At one point, one Necron Phalanx was in a FF assault with the Berserker BTS and Beastmen. Desp[ite the World Eaters being +4 to the dice roll, the Necrons somehow managed to with the combat forcing 2 massive units and activations to be useless for the rest of the turn (right hand side of the pic below). So instead these sorrowful excuses of genetics decided to castle the Blitz.

Post Game Thoughts

- A wily Necron Player who lived in Australia yet has an English accent  (hmmmm) plays very well
- World Eaters had a few inconsistent combat rolls that could have mattered, however they were outplayed throughout the game overall
- Necrons taking out the fast assaults on the RHS of the table was the turning point right from the start
- World Eaters had no idea the power of Monoliths. They are now respected.
- Pylon - Pretty average as a sole unit vs planes in formations of 3


mattthemuppet thoroughly deserved the win on strategy and tactics alone. I daresay our next game will hopefully be a little different   :laugh:

Any thoughts on the regeneration?  Did it even come up?  If so, how did you handle it?
