It depends on what role they are performing - berzerkers in drop pods for instance are a good choice

I would still go the Plague Marines with a 3+ armour over the Berserkers with a 2+CC even for a drop potentially.

Both are going to be broken after an assault, and in the above case, I see the AR far more valuable than the CC

In a base contact engagement, Plague Marines and Berserkers are essentially a wash. One slightly more resilient, the other slightly more aggressive.

The problem is, Plague Marines are superior in FF's, and in non-engagement situations.

I don't see a point, excepting thematics, where I'd pick Berserkers over Plague Marines, unless I was making a consideration based on summoned daemons. And even then, there's a lot of claims that Nurgle is better there too.

Though, to be fair, I'd probably put Noise Marines or KSons above them both.

I’ve posted up a rant against the proposed Factions rule. That aside a couple things do stand out to me in the LaTD list as being a little too good/cheap:

Subjugators – 2 TK attacks in a TK starved army is very useful. They’re also faster and longer ranged than a Warhound and have CC 3+. Dave Thomas – possibly the best epic player on the planet by tournament results? – seems to agree to them being very good/competitive as he took 3 of them in his LaTD army at Open War. I reckon they should be 250pts rather than 225.

Daemon Prince – 3+ reinforced is a bit awesome and pretty much mandatory for your supreme. Could possibly have a ‘Lost and the Damned Demon Prince’ version and drop this down to 4+ Reinforced or 5+ Reinforced with wings for him? The reasoning being the other bodyguards on the stand (they are infantry so assumption is 3-5 models on the base) are normal humans here rather than chaos marines. Less sure of this one, but thought I’d throw it in there.

Looking forward to th batrep, regarding the Subjugators I've always found them a one trick pony as they have to get into CC in an army that will rarely go first in a turn. If you look at tourney results that list was dptdexys worst result for some years whereas in previous years a 2 Subjugator, 2 Questor army had done much better - though whether this was just due to opponents unfamiliarity with the LatD is another question.

I will - I'm hoping to get 2 games in this week, 1 either spamming raptors with the BL or stalkers the other with LatD.

At the moment I'm leaning towards reducing the hated range to 15cm

I fully support this idea.

It allows various Factions to work decently on the battlefield, but it show they don't always "play nice" when up close and personal.

In reality it's the fact that Dptdexys used to average 3+ games of epic a week from the early development days. He knows all the armies inside out and backwards and rarely makes mistakes whilst forcing you too.

{edit} oh, that reminds me I did take notes of a beating he dished out to me some time ago. I'll see if I can dig it out.
