My goal is to put Raiders 2.0 here on Tactical Wargames by January 12th.  If I am going to do that I need help from anyone who can manage to spare some time.  

To get right to it, here is what I need:

Minervan, Necron, and Dark Eldar play tests.  Anything you can do to play at least one of these armies would be appreciated.  You don't need to post a full batrep but posting anything that seemed controversial or problematic would be helpful.

Typos, formatting problems, stat errors, grammatical corrections, and so on.  Feel free to post them here.  Even if you think it has been brought up before let's just make sure.  Look over the original pdf document and book.

There are certain problems with picture resolution that I am aware of which -unfortunately- will be impossible to correct.  There were WIP pics that were lost in two hard drive crashes that will be impossible to recover.  These I consider to be casualties and -unless somebody has a good replacement picture of their own- they won't be fixed.  If yo do have a good picture, however, please send it to me.

How can some of the pictures that were in the original Raiders be lost? presumably there is a 300 dpi version of the whole book which you sent to press - could they not be extracted from there even if the individual image files are lost?

Sorry!  I wasn't very clear.  The pictures were lost prior to the submission to the printer.  I had to fall back on some 90dpi shots I had shrunk for posting on the internet rather than the original 300dpi pictures I had taken.  

So to clarify, pictures in Raiders 2.0 will not look any worse at all, but the ones that you see in Raiders 1.0 that look pixelated will most likely not be replaced and improved.

It is January 12th.  It is not a lot of time to playtest, but the 'review and playtest' time has been supposedly going on since May 2009.  This is a final push.  The Necrons are the only ones that really need a lot of love.  The Minervans need some playtesting of the Stormhammer.  The Dark Eldar are effectively done but I will still listen to anybody's feedback.

Also realize that I'll be ordering the proof on January 15th and won't even get that back until January 22nd at the earliest.  Then I have to review the proof and place the order on January 25th if all goes well.  That is a cushion of time where things can be changed if need be.

I still have pictures of my Necrons if you need them, or can take more if you like.

I'm wrapping up a game of Necrons vs. Air Marines, but I played so poorly I'm almost embarrassed to post the report.  On the bright side, I think all the Necron changes are really positive, although only getting 1 unit back in the Rally phase is taking some getting used to.

Quick question, and please excuse my noob-ness on my return to Epic on this one. I was wondering why the Archon/Archite, Dracon/Dracite and Haemonculus characters cannot be equipped with reaver jetbikes? I am not familiar with any of the army list to know whether or not characters of this status can be used on bikes, and thus no idea how such a selection would effect the balance of the army list.

Gnat, the question is off topic but I don't care.   :D

The focus of this particular list is on the kabals, not the wych cults.  So when we put the list together the Archons and Dracons (the main characters) were kept to the core formations.

The references to Archites and Dracites are leftovers from older lists that never got deleted when they should have... So I guess you aren't off topic after all.  :agree:

With that said I suppose you could upgrade a syndicate formation with Reavers and place the Archite or Dracite on those units if you really wanted to, but that was never the intention of the list.  But given the nature of the Dark Eldar I doubt anyone would ever complain about such a subtle difference.

Has anyone ever written a Wych themed variant? Would it have any new units or just a more limited selection / different core and support options?

I'll hopefully be meeting up with my friend sometime next week for a game. First game we should play our winter warmer lists against each other for practice, but if we have time for a second game I'll see if I can test the Necrons out, probably having my first go at using them myself.

If so are there any things I should particularly test - Pylons are the obvious one so I'll take a couple. Not sure if there's anything specifically else?

Just keep special note of the regeneration.  Try to guess at how the new rule changed the dynamics of play or how many units were regenerated.  Was it more or less?  Take the Deceiver if you can, or the Abattoir if you have time and a model for it.

As for Dark Eldar, I think there is room for a Wych Cult list.  I poked at it a few times with cores of Wyches, Reavers, and Hellions.  Might be fun to eliminate the heavier equipment in exchange for more arena beasts; multiple kashnaraks, other AV sized animals.  Throw in Warp Beast packs.

Thank you for the prompt reply Moscovian. Glad to see my off topicpost proved to be not too far off topic. I like your idea of upgrading the syndicate with reavers and adding the character to that unit, it would better represent the look I am trying to achieve.

Gnat, just remember these are tournament rules.  If you are playing mostly 'friendly' games then model it any dang way you want.  Put an Archon in a Reaver formation - as long as your main opponents don't seem to mind (and they really shouldn't in this particular case) then you are free to go Wych Cult wild. :alien:

Z, if you have any you think are good replacements, email them to me at moscovian@hotmail.com and I'll check them out.  The WIP pics are the ones that suffered the most when we first published but if you see any others that you've got better ones of, hit SEND.   :)
