I think that part of this review is to remove oblits from the terminator formation so their only home is retinues.

What is the rationale behind that thinking?

Aye I don't really see the reason behind removing their ability to use their teleport ability.

They basically are bigger Terminators (with all their abilities) with enhanced shooting abilities.

That may be the understatement of December. How about "terminators with the right weapon, regardless of the tactical situation". From a 40K perspective, they are very complementary units/formations. That synergy should be retained.

Wellthey can "only"morp energy based weapons.
The list of weapons they can morph is:
Lascannon
Multi-melta
Plasma Cannon
Twin-linked Plasmagun
Twin-linked Meltagun
Twin-linked Flamer

So if you want TRUE stats of the Obliterators weapons they would be:

Obliterators
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Infantry 15cm 4+ 4+ 4+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Body Weapons 45cm 3 x AP4+/AT4+ or 15cm MW5+ -
(15cm) Small Arms Macro-weapon, Ignore Cover, Extra Attack (+1)
(base contact) Assault Weapons Macro-weapon, Extra Attacks (+1)

Notes: Fearless, Reinforced Armour, Teleport, Thick Rear Armour. May either shoot with their 45cm attack or their 15cm attack.*

*Yes that means you can mix the shots so 2 x 45cm AP4+/AT4+ and 1 x 15cm MW5+ is possible.

If there was ever a unit that warranted a firefight better than 4+ it's obliterators.

Don't underestimate Extra Attacks for FF. 2x4+ is better than 1x3+

Statistically 2x 4+ is better than a single 2+ attack, especially so if one of those 4+ attacks is a MW!

Which is the point I am trying to make. The flamers remove cover saves, good by IG/Orks in cover. Plasmaguns hit armored infantry. Melta/Lascannon are there for AT shots, whether up close or far away. They have a +2 save and if I remember correctly, can they also take powerfists for HtH or was that the previous codex?

In any case, they can adapt to their situation and take whatever weapon they need. That is quite a capability regardless of which game system you use.

Yes they still have a Power Fist. And they have Terminator Armour (that's not only a 2+ Save but an 5+ Invulnerable Save too if they are hit with a Ap2 or Ap1 weapon)
