In all situations an AMTL list is more likely to fight against forces with less WE so don't require the anti-titan load outs. When AMTL lists start appearing more regularly then I can see them taking some anti-titan weapons, probably at least 1 volcano cannon or a specialist anti-WE Reaver. You need the possibility of coming up against significant WE opposition though before that will happen. In short Titans aren't made to fight titans because they don't fight enough titans for it to be worthwhile.

Ork, Eldar and Tyranid Titans in their fixed configurations can all take on an imperial titan of roughly equivalent class.

The Hierophant is technically Warhound class but if that Warhound doesn't at least severely injure the Hierophant at range then the Warhound doesn't stand much of a chance in CC. A Hierophant can probably take a Reaver in CC if it doesn't have a CCW. Ork Gargants get some TK weapons as standard and the Phantom/Warlock also gets MW/TK shots.

My titans are armed to take on massed armour, so as many plasma cannons/destructors, gatling blasters and turbo lasers as possible, backed up by a Reaver with dual volcano cannons, and a reaver with dual close combat weapons.

It lacks anti infantry weapons, but titans don't worry about infantry  :cool: .  As a result I don't worry about war engines.  Strip the shieldoff of a Gargant or Titan and 2 gatling blasters and two turbo lasers on sustain will ruin their day.

I think that sounds awesome.
Titans should have the highest probability to survive any gunfight where they are not under constant fire.



Concerning what Rug said:

"When opposing units with the "Fearless" ability are in base to base contact both parties have the ability cancelled out as they fight to the death!".... that would be awsome! No more crumby no damage Titan vs Titan fights!

Instead of wasting a round and locking the titans in the following turn how about we treat fearless WE vs fearless WE like a tie in an assault only that the assault is always tied until one we dies.
This wouldnt interrupt the flow of the game too much while still allowing some epic titan on titan action(not what you're thinking).

Well play a few Titan only vs. Titan only game ... and see how it works out for you ...   :cool:  However, in a Titan only vs Titan only game, Titans are pretty much under constant fire ... from each other ...

When it gets down to CC between Titans do we really want to increase the chances of one them dying. It is frustrating with two poorly equipped Titans hitting each other ineffectively but can anyone really say that a Warlock/Phantom with Powerfist or a Hierophant needs help beating other Titans in CC, I'd think the opposing titan would be trying to disengage.

I don't think permanent assaults until one dies is a good plan. Altering an attribute of Fearless could have fairly far reaching consequences. Having said that, if a weakening of titan lists is required you could have an army list rule where when a Fearless WE loses an assault the winning side can choose to fight another (and only 1) round of combat (maybe limited to between Fearless WE's).
