Yes, but GW doesn't want their "fanbois" reading it, so they threaten legal action... and people who don't know the truth simply comply.

"fanbois" ... I like it !!!    :)  :D  :agree:

In fact, most of whats in that text is quite OK from my perspective. The main problem is taht they seem to believe they can charge almost any price without it hurting their sales, which is wishful thinking, but explains why their stuff is priced as it is. As far back as I can remeber GW were always more expensive, but they often were offering better quality as well. So they do have a bit of a point there.

I think a problem nowadays is theyve maybe over-emphasized technical quality over artistic; that is, they make excellent quality castings using the best materials etc, but the actual sculpts themselves are IMHO uglier than they used to be. So they themselves may still believe their stuff has higher quality than anyone elses, but thats not actually the case. Especially since some of their best designers from the past have gone into business for themselves.

I find myself falling under the same category here.  Whilst, like many, I do not play or enjoy playing 40k in 28mm scale it's the 41st millenium that does it for me: in the future I can perhaps see myself collecting some other 6mm sci fi armies to play different rulesets with but I tend to be a bit of a purist when it comes to mixing and matching!

Id have firmly put myself into this category until a few months ago. Now having ordered from DRM and EW and seen how good the minis + price is, i think my collection may be heading in the 'mixed universe' route :)

It doesn't matter too much if GW keep most of the epic line or not to me, as they've priced most of it ridiculously high, but i still buy the £12 infantry boxes :agree: i think the only epic ive brought from GW itself is plastic infantry and one blister of dreads.

:handshake: Well, they got one thing right. Already our mothers told us we where special, right? And so we have always known that to be true. All the way up through puberty, never ever taking on the girls. Now even the 'ega 'orporation swears to it's truth! :handshake:

Epic is better on life support from GW than totally withdrawn, of that have no doubt. :(

I'll agree to that, despite how frustrating being on life support can be.

I have begun to wonder how long GW (and others) will matter at all. With the advent of 3D modeling & printing it seems like the current GW business model has a definite expiration date - one that is probably not more than a few years down the road.

Yes, it will kill wargaming as we know it, lets hope something survives!

I don't see 3D modelling/printing in it's current form as something that kill wargaming.  It simply adds to the body of material that is already avaiable from independent sculptors.  If nothing else, it will give gamers even more high quality merchandise to choose from.

Maybe if renegade 3D sculptors suddenly start spewing forth large multi-part plastic kits, then the folks at GW will need to make some big shifts quickly, but they still have the IP and still drive the Grimdark™ bus.

Can anyone confirm/deny the Warseer ban story?  It's got me really curious.

This is what the guy (Exquisite Evil)who was banned wrote on Golden Throne:

I am about to post what got me banned for LIFE from warseer.

I'm willing to take his word for it.

I know ExquisiteEvil got banned and I think it was for posting bits of Red Book. I never saw the thread myself though.

I do remember reading that thread when it first appeared on Warseer. I didn't know Exquisite Evil got banned for life.

He really was unreasonably bitter about everything for months before that, though. He needed to step along and find a pastime more to his liking, and I hope the ban helped him do that.

GW's Handbook for Executives, essentially.

Apparently, it is some sort of internal operations manual.  However, most of the supposedly controversial bits  (all the "niche market" stuff from Kirby) appeared in the GW annual reports for several years.
