2. Do you think that independant swarms should ignore blast markers and should have an auto charge aspect when within range of an enemy. Like presented in the game, your opponent allowed your stealers to charge even though they failed. This sounds correct. Much like the World Eaters, should they (independant swarms) not have an instinct to charge? IMO, if they fail their initiative and the enemy is within charge range, they should be able to charge. I would go as far as to say, if the enemy is within range, that is all they can do. They know nothing else, or are stealers more likley to be self conscious of themselves?

Same could be said of orks though who love nothing so much as good fight...And could be said about quite a lot of different actions/unit combinations. Not sure if it's good idea to introduce yet more exceptions to the rules.

But the report made it sound like they didn't reach it rather than deliberately staying outside CC :;):

Okay, I've edited it slightly to make it clear that it was on purpose.  *laugh*

On turn 2 why did the Termies Ramiel fire AP? Easier to get to Warriors?

Wasn't an attempt to get Warriors at all, but an attempt to break the swarm... so either hit armoured AT targets or unarmoured AP targets... I think only one kill was needed, so AP was the better bet.

Also I'm interested on why Harridan decided to commit suicide with CC assault on Terminators (or did the kills happen in FF, which I doubt)? Harridan should've just concentrated on getting to the blitz as it's easily fastest thing in Tyranids side.

Needed to eliminate/hamper Terminator formations, and the Harridan would've been easy prey for the Land Raiders if it went off alone to the Blitz.

The marine army composition however looks quite boring. It would have been good to see a marine player win with more of a diverse range of squads than with what was taken. In effect, I am unsure whether we have seen marines win without having to take such a force (I have not really looked).

Well, it was fairly representative of a "Deathwing" elite army, so I don't think it's "boring", per se, but a bit monotonous if one stuck with it continuously.  And it's a tough army to face, since those Terminators are hard to shift!  *laugh*  But it's not necessarily an easy army to win with as your detachments are all quite small.

1. Do you think the "tooth and claw" would have been more devastating if the squads were not Terminators?

It's really hard to say as the Terminators arrived right in "tooth and claw" range Turn 1... other armies may have had a more cautious approach and would've forced the Bugs to do a lot of marching while also taking longer ranged fire.

I look forward to trying the same "style" of Tyranid list again, since those big swarms can soak up a lot of hits.

2. Do you think that independant swarms should ignore blast markers and should have an auto charge aspect when within range of an enemy.
Well, Bugs can only fail to assault on a "1" in the worst possible conditions, retaining with a Blast marker, so it's not actually that likely to come up... it just that it seems to happen at the *most* inopportune times is all.  *laugh*

Bugs are practically "guaranteed" to successfully assault, so I don't think any more of a boost is really needed.  As this was a friendly game, my opponent was gracious enough to allow the attack.  In a tournament situation, I'd not have expected such a "favour" and would've had to laugh it off.  *laugh*

Also while you had an extra Lictor, you could have fitted it into list as you had 55 points under 3k.

Would've put my Independent Swarms over 1/3... by 25 points or something... *laugh*

Also I'm not very keen on 3TW at 100 points either, but I suppose you know that already.

Could you elaborate on that some more, Hena?  The "Termagant Terror" can't really be done anymore with Warriors as LVs, so what other issues are there with the 100 point Warriors?

If I'd dropped another Lictor, I could've made this same army with 125 point Warrior Groups, so it's not that big of a difference, but I'd like to encourage the use of Warriors (yes, even with the "kiss of death" LV status).

In regard to the "Kiss of Death", I only lost 2 Warriors this game.  *laugh*

My normal marine armies usually involve an entire company of marines straight of out the Codex Astartes, vastly different from what you see here. And I've had some (small) success with them, although lately I've been experimenting with Eldar. So normally you'd see a much different mix in my Marine lists.

However by trying to stick to a Deathwing theme, there isn't a whole lot of variety to be had - Terminators, Land Raiders, and T-hawks are about it.

Maybe if there were rules for Veteran marines, assault Terminators, and Cyclones you could mix it up... *grin*

I would have forced the Land Raiders to do some work at it. Assault Terminators into CC in general isn't hampering them, just allowing them to do their thing .

Well, I thought I could sacrifice my 175 point formation to greatly hamper his 400 point formation... and I did knock it down to below half.  *laugh*
