I'm pretty sure just as it's a custodian titan doesn't mean it belongs to the Custodes does it? THought it's just a title so to speak?

I'm planning for a lighter grey colour or something like that with yellow head and details on shins etc; but i'd be up for suggestion!

Correct, it's just similar names; there's no link between a Custodian Titan and the Emperor's Adeptus Custodes bodyguards.

Colour scheme sounds good, just suggest lots of gold and ornateness.

Cheers Neal.

Painting has begun:

Going to go for a slightly battered grey i think; lot's of weathering; details in gold, guns and head darker red; lots of blacklined smaller details like pipes and stuff; not sure what to do with the mechanics yet though...very dark metal might work...?

I usually start with gun metal.

I always begin my war machines with a light drybrush of tin bitz sometimes with some boltgun mixed in.

It allows you to see some details that you may have missed when looking and deciding what colours to do what, it provides a nice base to work from and if you want to leave some bits unpainted then it looks old and corroded.

Cheers DK; i'll give that a go.

Progress is slow as i'm trying to keep things as neat as possible (this is basically going to be the centre piece for all my guard armies...) but here's what the armour plates are going to look like.

Hell of a lot of detail on this model too; i really like it!

Excellent work MoK... definatly a custodial bell idea I will have to borrow.
I love the butress uprights for the support, but I am leaning towards a slightly shorter chain and a lodestone bell for a corpsecart.

Steal away mate; copying is the highest form of flattery or whatever!
A couplo eof days off work today and tommorow; so just working on the armour this evening; it's heavy work i'm telling you but the result should be worth it.

I'm watching the star wars xmas special on youtube at the moment; it's pure hilarity; 1/2 of the action takes part in Chewbacca's family home with no subtitles and it's full of crazy filler material...!

Woohoo! Day of work; 4 day weekend and all and i've only JUST managed to get painting again. Finished work (i think) on all the armour panels about an hour ago and waited for the wash to dry to see what people think.

First layer of highlighting with fortress grey and shot of the rear (don't think i've shown that angle yet)

Second more selective highlight with white

Time to dirty it up a bit; addition of my old favourite MIG Dark Wash.

Although initially tempted to keep the paintjob REALLY clean i thought that would look a bit too cartoony. The aim is to get a balance between all the hard lines and 'realism' with weathering and grime etc...let's see what happens i guess...

Nice work MOK and thanks for the comment on my log. Although after looking at the pics the skull face is not what I was hoping for (paintwise) so I'll def have to touch-up that somewhat.

Gun metals and detailing done, moving onto bronzes and golds...heavy work this stuff!

If anyone has any suggestions on what do with the colours for the bell mount then that would be great! Head and plasma cannon are going to be dark red.

Coming along nicely. I think it would be important to keep the bell tower the same colors as the main body to make it look like an integrated part of the model. If you start painting it in dfferent colors there's a bigger chance of it looking out of place IMO. The filigree could still be painted gold if you want it ornamented.

agreed; i've been looking at it for a while now and that's what i'd concluded too; great to have you thinking the same thing; helps a lot to have someone of such high standards thinking along the same lines! Talking of which; what are you working on at the moment chap?
