Enough with the minor gripes ; what do you find coolest about Epic tournaments?

There's a huge ammount I enjoy.

I enjoy the high standard of competition, as I've played against some really skilled players and learnt a lot.

I love seeing the variety of nicely painted unique armies, as Epic is often maligned for not featuring a high painting skill or extensive conversions, and seeing a collection of converted Epic armies all in one place proves that assertion dead wrong!

I find it's a great place to garner some opinions about my own latest Epic projects, as I value the perspective of dedicated tournament players.

I wish I could enjoy a drink at the bar with the guys but I'm always on the road, and mildly allergic to alcohol to boot!

I reckon that compared to the Warhammer Fantasy tournaments I've attended in the past (A 'Conflict' and a 'GT') Epic tournaments are little slices of heaven.

I enjoy the high quality of painting and conversions seen at tournaments. They inspire me to try to improve my own armies.

I like the variety in play styles and army lists and the challenge that these represent.

I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere at Epic events and the ever growing friendly banter that goes on before, during and after them.

I like that, too. Aside from getting a chance to play lots o' Epic, one of my favorite things about tourneys is meeting in person people you previously knew only through cyberspace.

You guys are making me all wistful... haven't been to an EPIC tourney in a long time...

Really hoping to make it out to NEAT this year.

Not having played in any epic tournaments but many fantasy battles.  I hope to see nice armies, cool terrain and good players who enjoy a good game and less rules lawyering plus find some players in PA.

I am itching to get another epic army and make some cool terrain so the tournament will inspire me I am sure.

This Saturday will be my first Epic tournament, looking forward to it..

Kal

PA seems to be the new EA player spawning point. Quit hogging all the new recruits Moscovian.

Putting faces to a screen name is what I like best about tourneys. That and they seem to bring players out of the wall. We picked up Matt last year thanks to NEAT-I, and Gary, Mitch and Jay this year.

GD ought to be fun for the same reason.

I also appreciate the friendly mood that an epic tournament seems to generate. It's better than anything I've experienced with other systems.

"...except when Erik throws a second lost activation and walks of in disgust."

Not winning more than what little fame there is would be part of why it's nice.
And, BTW, congratulations on winning GothCon XXXIII Karegak.  8v)

Meeting peoply formerly known only through the internet.

Seeing a lot of beautiful painted armies (and awful painted too   ).

Meeting a bunch of people who are as nerdy as i and share the same interests.

Playing against new opponent with different armies and playstyles.
