FYI Chroma, you won't need 300dpi work unless it is going on the cover.  Obviously the high resolution helps but most of the artwork in Raiders was 96dpi and it came out fine.

300DPi really is what you should be aiming for, although where I work 150DPi can be acceptable - it really depends on the kind of image.

EG. A photo will look fine at 150 but lineart will look particularly block - it's really down to the contrast in the image.

"For the Glory of the Guard

This took me 35mins in PS CS1. I'm not too chuffed with the pic as I realise that his head is too small and his feet and lasgun are massive. :(

Here's a bit of fluff to go with the concept...

The Trinity X Imperial Guard regiments have no specific traits. They are not assault specialists, heavy infantry or trench warfare experts. They are like the vast majority of the Imperial Guard - mere men who are pitted against the worst that the uncaring galaxy can throw at them.

The most notable campaigns they have been involved in are the Freyburgh Crusade and the Gort System Purge. Their most celebrated action was on Slim's World where they held the Chindit Ridge for a month against overwhelming Ork charges.

This pic took me 3hrs in PS CS1. I'm quite happy with it. :)

Tycho Imperial Light Tank

Tycho Light Tanks of the Saladin VI Imperial Guard move forward to support elements of the 15th TrinityX division in their attempt to take the fortified village of Ancre.

Agreed. 150 is really the minimum resolution for print, although you might be lucky that some images look decent at lower resolutions.

Very nice work, I like the Tycho's very much.

I'm afraid the IG Trooper is a bit cartoonish... however, it reminds me a bit of Bill Mauldin's WWII Cartoons of Willie and Joe.

Willie and Joe caption...
"Able Fox Five to Able Fox. I got a target but ya gotta be patient."

Yeah I'm not keen on the troopers either - in fact I think the main guy up front looks almost zombie-like!!!  :oo:

No! No... I meant the "For the Glory of the Guard" Trooper. The others look fine to me and the lighting makes them look kinda' ghost like. Very nice.

I was thinking, and I hope you don't mind me suggesting... But, why not go with the cartoonishness of the "For the Glory of the Guard" trooper and try making a "For the Glory of the Guard" cartoonish propaganda posters?

Hi guys,

I've been in a bit of a creative trough recently. After doing all those Epic Siege pics I think I burnt myself out a bit!

Anyway, I set myself a little project to get back into the swing of things. Therefore I'm going to be trying my hand at each House of the Necromundan Underhive!

Here's a WIP of my latest pic...

1hr 30mins work

Does anybody know what the Cawdor house symbol is? Or whereabouts I might find it?

Ok, final image here!

Cawdor Heavy

4 hours in PS CS1

I'm happy with how this has turned out, although I am slightly annoyed with myself that I haven't managed to put enough of their house symbol in there - although you can see it in his ear-ring, necklace and purity seal.
