Hi guys,

so as i said in my other thread i am thinking of using DRM for my infantry as i want to model a caidna regiment.

My question is: would i be able to play with these miniatures at WHW?

I ask because a lot of my friends gather together for a day and head down to WHW for a days worth of gaming then go home again, GW & WHW are quite picky about what can and can't be used in there, i.e. the model has to be at least 50% GW and undercoated at least.

I ask because i would like to play epic at WHW with my mates there, but if the staff are going to say "put them away...blah blah blah" its not worth it.
Or because Epic isn't a main game (or even supported by GW properly) and the models are so small would they mind?

My personal opinion is that by the letter of their rules they are not allowed. However, the chance that they will notice that your infantry are not GW grunts is low! Its a risk.

Are your vehicles GW?

If you mounted them on GW plastic bases rather than DRM's metal ones (I think), you could always argue that the 50% is the base.

Or you could always claim you sculpted them by hand out of old 40K Space Marines. Then they'd be 100% 'GW'.

On a more likely tactic, given the support (or lack thereof), if questioned, claim they're 2nd Edition Imperial Guard. It's likely if questioned, the staff won't query that answer. And if they do, claim that that was what they were listed as when you purchased them on EBay.

If you're REALLY concerned, ask the manager before purchasing. Then you get to make an informed decision before purchase. As long as the rest of the force is 'official', you should emphasize that, for their consideration.

Going off on a tangent from this does anyone know or think what WHWs policy would be with cast up home made conversion parts? If I sculpt - or pay an individual to sculpt (for my own use only and not general sale) - model parts which are then cast up in metal or resin and used to convert existing citadel miniatures, would they be ok with this?

If I do go ahead with this I envisage a bit over 50% of the visible surface area of the models might be the new sculpts, but it'd be hollowed out and more than 50% of the model by weight would the standard citadel model. I could always bring a WIP photo with me of the models proving this latter point if they were to query it.

As somebody who plays at WHW every week I think its very unlikely any staff would notice
