Its not as if those vehicles can't be bought in toy shops very cheaply... :)

You mean like actual matchbox/hotwheels cars & trucks?  Wouldn't that die-cast metal be hard to do conversions on?  Would you strip them or just paint over them?

Please don't think I'm being difficult.  This sounds like a fun idea, but something I've never delved into before.  Just trying to get up to speed.

Many, many apologies for going OT.

Con

I'm tempted to request some 15mm aliens, something out of Barlowe's guide.  Maybe Posleen style.

Oh god, that sound so nice...but I would need at least 100 sprues just to build the smallest Posleen Army.  :p

No, it's okay.  We're used to going OT around here!

The Matchbox cars aren't as hard to convert as one might think, especially if you have a Dremel handy, but I've found most of them can be pretty easily converted by using plasticard for armor plates, window-screen material for steel mesh over the windows, and then just gluing weapons on the surface where needed.  Anything requiring actual modification of the metal body can be pretty easily accomplished with a Dremel.

Okay, I'm off to post this to the Liberty League!

EDIT:  And it's away!  Here's what I sent off to WF:

This project would be for a Car Wars/Dark Future/Mad Max accessory sprue in a scale usable with 15mm or Matchbox cars, to allow players to kitbash vehicles for use with Car Wars, Axles & Alloys, Dark Future, Wreckage, etc.  The sprue would contain a variety of weapons and accessories, such as:

- Turrets and cupolas;
- Rocket and missile launchers;
- Dozer blades, saw blades, and spikes;
- Machine guns, Gatlings/Miniguns, vehicular shotguns, and anti-tank guns;
- Light and Heavy Lasers;
- Flamethrowers;

Figuring that a turret or cupola would be roughly 10mm to 20mm in size, the sprue could probably carry five or six of those, two dozer/push blades, four saw blades, and then still have room left for two to three dozen weapons, since each weapon would be roughly 15mm to 20mm long and only three or four millimeters thick.

We have done so for many different things. My fist experiance was with doing a large scale Car Wars using Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Some of those were crude because I was learning, but they repainted easy and I used mostly 1/72nd weapons and some Games Workshop stuff as well.

Later on I used some of the Matchbox vehicles in my 15mm foces and in those cases I have done repaints as well as adding different tires and in one case converted it to be a Grav Car. In these cases it was much easier and they came out better because I had learned and had better tools etc.

As for the painting, I have painted over, sanded off and repainted, or just used the paint job with some slight changes. I think this is more about what the vehicle is and what you want.

So, is there a place you would recommend where a curious gent could see some examples of others work?

Here is one guy who shows how he did a Minicooper:

Here are some repaints folks did for 15mm War Games

Hope this gives you at least some ideas.

Interesting, the Zombies hit the 1,000 so the up the number to 2,000 sprues. Though they do say they are starting to work on sculpting.  :glare:

they upped the number purely to let more people pre-order if they want to. Having been only up for a week, there were some people who missed out on pre-ordering & the system wouldn't allow any more once the target was hit.

I've told other guys on other sites, this is the best place for 6mm Sci-fi ... Especially Epic ! Not to mention both Honchos from DRM & Exodus Wars are Homeboyz from this site ...  This is Ground Zero for 6mm Sci-fi !  :)           And by the way, I can't log on to the W/F site, but I'm working on it. Regardless, someone slap those 3 ******* that posted stupid comments on the W/F 6mm Android forum !  :mad:  If they don't want 6mm Androids, they shouldn't make negative comments !  :evil:  However, with all the pre-orders, we should hit a Grand soon, if we have not already ! :;):

It did occur to me that some wall-to-wall counseling would probably be justified.  But, hey, if stupidity were a capital offense, we'd be knee deep in the dead by now.
