I have several I want to base, but I'm thinking of going the route of using a movement tray to start with.

Can anyone suggest either the better size of a basic GW-esque tray, or a company that molds unpainted, pre-decorated bases of the right size?

Thanks in advance...

I had a similar problem with my dominatrix being too huge, I ended up using some spare modular movement tray sheet (from GW) that I cut to size and spruced up with cork and ruins.
Would a CD be about the right size if you're after a round base?
Hope that helps :upside:

I've thought about using a cd(all those useless AOL discs would finally find a purpose), but I'm looking for something rectangular, and just big enough for the feet to fit inside the tray's rim.

I've looked at GW movement trays, but I have yet to find one that looks to be big enough.

Have you looked at the modular ones? You can make them any size you like ???

Why not just use some plasticard? It would be less expensive and more versatile than movement trays.

I used one of those CDs I got in the mail for my I-Titan. There are a couple of pics on "What Are You Working On ?" thread. I re-posted them recently there.  :) Oh heck ! Here's a pic anyway !

With the 2 Imperators that I've based recently, I used the old thick stat cards. I've had these cards since Space Marine first came out and it's good to find a use for them now.

Haha, what a great idea Onyx! Though I imagine it could be a bit annoying if you ever went back to playing SM. "What are the stats?" "Lemme check" *Flips Titan over again*  :vD

Seriously it looks great and I suppose you'd have kept spares if you ever wanted to use them again, but I really like the image of flipping a Titan over to check on stats.

I'm wondering about this very thing now. A CD actually looks a tad TOO big for me but a drink coaster might work.

Thankfully I have several Lipton cup coasters that are square, exactly the right size and very thick, made of some kind of really heavy cardboard. I'm not sure if you can buy those anywhere, I got them as promo items. I think I'm going to use one of those.

I've used old credit card sized plastic cards (expired library cards, whatever) Small enough to be discrete (perhaps slightly on the small side) but big eough to give the model some much needed stability.

I think it is Tuffskull who has been using two regular titan bases fused together (sort of an 8 shaped form).

I like that idea. I might use it.

That CD is just the right size. Good job L4!

I think I might go that route in a sense...

I'm going to double-up the cd for the thickened strength, and I'll use my dremel to cut off the edges and trim it down.

Thanks for all the ideas!!!

Well I chose a CD because besides I could put cool things on it (see pic) around the I-Titan's feet ... :) The model is top heavy and I added to it by using the metal head and weapons on the Carapace ...  The CD will give it stability on other then flat terrain. :D
