Indeed, thanks a lot! :)   I'm probably going to play Imperial, but I'll look at everything to see if anything is going to change my mind (I'm open for anything  :D )  Thanks for your help guys!

Probably the best fleet to start with.

Next you need a composition.  How would you prefer your fleet to perform?

Imperials have good long range firepower in the form of Nova cannons and torpedoes.  A strong front armour too, so can take punishment pretty well.

Do you own the blue book?

Good point. You have to know what kind of player you are. Are you the type who'll run in and slug it out, or are you a more cautious cat who'd prefer some long range support. Do you prefer speed over firepower? That sort of thing. :p

...Something else to add- don't go overboard on Nova Cannons... I suggest just building 1 ship with one (at the most) from the ships that you get in the box (I made a Mars) as fleets with loads of the things can be thought of as beardy/cheesy/whatever.... :)

Do you have an idea of what ships will be in your fleet? Maybe you could post what you want and we could help?

Cheers

Chris

I don't own anything for it yet... just the rulebook.  I'm gonna do some research and study them up a little bit before I decide what ships I'm gonna get and how to equip them, so thoughts are of course, appreciated:)

Okay, for a starting fleet I would recommend a carrier.  The Dictator is a decent one, and the cheapest.  Then I find Gothics quite useful, with their many lances.  They are short ranged tthough, and against Eldar not very useful.

Tyrants and Lunars are good all round cruisers.  And maybe have a dominator, I believe that can be equiped with a Nova cannon. (I dont play Imperial, so am trying to remember)

So a compostition of something like,
Dominator
Dictator
Lunar/Tyrant (maybe both) or
Gothic.

This should give you a bit of everything.  Of coarse, it will slightly depend upon what your usual opponent fields.  If you have a few different opposing players with different fleets though, you may need adaptability.

Soon :)   I'm still reading the rules, so after that I'll start looking to buy stuff.  Almost done!
