leonmallett over at Warseer posted this on November 10th(edited to include only relevant material): "Jervis kindly delivered a seminar in Bugman's on Saturday night, and after running through the new releases for january (and February?) he was open to questions. Besides Griff Oberwald upcoming (SG I know, but bear with me) he indicated that there is no planned renewed support for Specialist Games at this time, which obviously has an impact on the 40K realted elements."

So really no news at all, but I suppose that is expected. I know Epic has been down and out quite a few times in the past and always seemed to come back, but this time it feels like it's done for good. IMO the only way I can see Epic surviving is if FW takes over model production. What do you think?

"there is no planned renewed support for Specialist Games at this time"

Remember, GW never officially announce anything that's more than three months out; JJ was recently quoted in a less formal environment as saying Epic would be getting some new SG releases within the next year or so.

I hadn't heard that. That's great news! Do we have any idea what army will be getting new models?

Yeah I guess Chaos would be the logical release as it was "interrupted" last time.

I note that Jervis can run Q&A sessions at 40K events, but can't attend the only official Specialist Games event run by GW, Call to Arms. At least Rick Priestly was on hand to support the warmaster players.

They're still selling and manufacturing the current crop of epic stuff. J just meant there's no new stuff. While GW still make the stuff epic isn't dead, just not advancing.

I'm guessing what Hena means is that due to the brittle nature of resin it makes it difficult to produce 6mm soldiers. Maybe that's why the Tau infantry are so expensive.

Yes, that's so, so why haven't they started with pewter already?

Well Epic support model wise was better before the advent of 4th edition - the whole range was avaliable through mail order, now its only the 4th edition stuff.

They've certainly thought about it, and I even have reason to believe that they will do it one day, but it's not a small undertaking to take over production of an entire game system, so it needs a solid slot in their production schedule.
