So here I am, holed up at home getting over a touch of the flu and I finally decide to get some epic stuff done! So I've ceased lavishing attention on my 6mm Persians and started painting up some Necron proxies and a slightly converted Necron Lord.

Welcome indeed.

Excellent looking Necrons mate (DRM is very cool stuff  :agree: ).
Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Cheers fellas, who says being ill means you can't be productive! My other half would no doubt disagree however.

Anyway, here's a pic of an Immortal and Flayed one.... more of these lads on their way.

Based up a unit of necrons, whopee! Just the six stands done so far though.

Am currently painting up some DRM industrial troops and APCs. Nice miniatures to paint.

I know this probably comes under ancients wargaming but I wanted to sneak in a pic of my ancient Persians:

Wow! So what are you using as proxies for the basic troops? They're great!

Those Necrons look quality mate.

Are those Persian Cataphracts in the back of the middle picture? Really nice stuff. I like the Parthian and Sparabara (?) archers too.

Man of Kent, the basic troops are from Dark Realm Miniatures, who do a fantastic range at reasonable prices! Their range of human infantry and tanks are also pretty great.

Warhead, the heavy cavalry with light protection on the horse and armoured legs for the rider are pretty much the precursor to full on cataphracts. I think they were generally provided by north Iranians and Bactrians. The infantry are areal mix of Persians, Scythians, Armenians and Egyptians...... there are so many more to be painted.

Cheers all for the generous comments!

Awesome work on both lots mate, and welcome to the forums!

You get a great sense of formations with the 6mm Ancients. What rules do you use?

The 6mm Ancients miniatures are from the mighty, mighty baccus6mm. Great miniatures, great value and they look fantastic when they're based.

Here's the link to the site:

Baccus6mm

As for rules, I'm afraid to say I don't actually play any wargames with my armies. Just never really got the hang of it, as well as no time. However, I truly love the challenge of painting and find a relaxing and a real pleasure, it's a tragically under appreciated artform - though it has to be said that the Chapman brothers have made a living from it!
