Hmmm, I think it is better to use this thread for that. You Cybershadow?

Agreed. Although I would not object to a link in the submission post, it does use the precious file size limit, and posting in the discussion area allows direct feedback on the pictures.

Hi!

I've tried to enter a ship, but the file size is too big.

Is there an easy way of reducing the file size to post, I was under the impression that attaching it to my post might have done it automatically but It says It is too big.

thanks

rev

You can open it in photoshop and save it as a jpg with a higher compression. To get it to 75kn you are going to need to use a setting of 3 or 4 on a 648x480 image.

Personally, I have found Irfanview an excellent viewer that allows reduction of picture sizes:

And it is free!

I've just added my Orky HammerKlass Battlekroozer as an entry mainly for the conversion comp (as my painting isn't all that!  :;):  ).
Unfortunately I can't manage the pictures to create a multi-shot entry so a side shot will have to be enough!
And how exactly do these heats work?
I have read the rules but am confused as to what happens, if, for example my ship fails the painting but makes the heats on conversion, does it automatically fail all? Or are they separate heats?
(Maybe I'm just too old to cope with all these different concepts at once! LOL)
And if I manage to improve my painting (miracles can and do happen!  :D  ) how do I substitute the later picture? Especially if my original was in an earlier heat? (Or are all the heats judged at the same time?)
D'oh! Brain overheating must cool down....

HG

Welcome H Greywolf.
To answer your heats questions - the entries are grouped into heats for voting purposes; the winning two from each (was it 2?) heat pass to the final, for which there is a final round of voting. This applies to the painting competition. The conversion competition is usually judged by a panel appointed by CyberShadow (the boss). And you cannot replace the picture during the final (which is the only other round after the initial heats).

To expand on vanvlaks response. It is easier to take the painting and conversion competition separately.

Painting - All entries are presented in heats, in the order they are submitted. These are heats of approximately nine. The first nine make the first heat, the next nine, etc. The single winner of each heat then goes to the final. Heats and the final are voted on these boards by the community.

Conversion - The judges (myself, blackhorizon and Warmaster Nice) sit around with a glass of port, and discuss all entries in a civilised manner. We collectively select a single winner that we feel represents an excellent conversion idea, in keeping with the spirit of the game and background. This conversion winner can be drawn from anywhere in the competition, any heat and a variety of painting skills.

Pictures can be replaced at any time up to the deadline. When the thread is closed, no pictures may be changed. This is one reason that we insist that all pictures are uploaded here directly and not linked in.

I hope that this answers your questions. All the best, and welcome to the boards.

A virtual port, alas...

Thanks for the replies guys!
Nice to know I don't have to go through the Painting Heats to feature in the Conversion Comp!
It means I might have a chance! LOL

And "Any Port in a storm" eh Vanvlak"?
D'oh! That was bad, even for me! LOL

I'm hoping against hope, but is there any way I can enter a stand of FW Thunderhawks? I probably can't, but it's worth a shot.

I do have some Strike Cruisers I am working on for The Big Waaagh, and I'll submit the best of them here. Still working on them right now, so it'll probably be towards the end of the competition before I can submit anything.

I am assuming these are the BFG ones, and not the Epic ones. I should think its ok - more than one stand, probably, as in the case of escorts, but I'll leave this to BH and CS.

Thunderhawks are fighter/assault boats in BFG. So very tiny.

I'll let you enter the stand if it are the BFG models and not the Epic ones. How many do you have on a stand?

Mind me: this is the first time someone ones to do this!

On a similar theme... If I wanted to enter some AC, how many could I enter and on how many bases?

Should we use the Escort entry rules (up to 4 I think) or could we add some more?
