Ya know, that's pretty much -exactly- what I was thinking when I saw those comments. 'Wait, what? Wraiths have Fearless? Since when!? o.O'. Shows how much attention I pay to the unit notes as being different from what I expect them to be, I suppose, mistake or not! >.>

4.) ?Change Monolith formation as follows:

Monolith: 125 points
+0-2 Monoliths: 65 points each
+0-3 Obelisks: 35 points each

4.5) Monolith FF attacks set at a fixed +2

Hey, cool!

I had problems with 75 points 7*FF5+ monolith but thought that it is so "set in stone" that no-one wanted to change that. (Basically my thought was "what is so inferior in monolith compared to Land Raider that it needed such a discount"). That is why I attacked against living metal what really pushed cheap molith out of window (still dont like living metal, but I try to live with it, now atleast monoliths have to pay for it. Never played with or against Living war engines so could not say anything about them and living metal.)

Is there any pdf or something with how things are "now"? I have only that 4.3r (from Henas site) and it is quite hard to use it with these changes. Are there any other changes from 4.3 apart from those that are in firts post?

Once Corey is finished doing this round of changes I'll put together a new pdf.

Erm, well yes, at least they have Fearless in your 4.3 version. They shouldn't have ?

:sigh:

No, they should NOT have Fearless on them.

The only things fearless should be the "mechanical" units.  Spyders, Obelisks, Monoliths, Orbs, Abbattoirs, and Pylons.  The C'tan are supposed to be fearless as well.

Otherwise, no other unit should have it.

Corey, you are a bad, bad army champion.  Now go to your room and do your Necron homework like mommy told you. :D

I guess putting out the Necron list for everyone to look at prior to Raiders coming out would be a good idea.

Corey: in that case you need another look through the list, because both Pariahs and Wraiths have fearless currently.

Activation special rules:  Personally, I think the No-march and +1 Marshall special rules are very flavorful for Necrons.

The problem up to now has been that the rules were relatively unimportant.  They have no impact on the game because play with the Necrons is totally focused on portal use.  It's a constant stream of break-teleport-portal.  The army had no reason to bother preserving on-board formations.  The special rules provided effectively no benefits or penalties as a result.

I would like to see some batreps with fewer portals, or at least fewer portal formations, to see if maintaining on-board formations might become more important.  For example, an army with something like 2 formations of 3 Monoliths and a Warbarque could end up in a situation where they couldn't cover everything they needed just by using portals.

Basically, rather than removing them because they don't have impact, I'd rather see the list adjusted so that they do have impact and provide added character to the list.

Monoliths:  The big point increase and drop in firepower might be too big a nerf, but I think batreps are in order.

I was planning to drop the new version of the list this weekend, but a work emergency has come up.

I'm afraid I'll be out in New York for the next 5-6 days, so please be patient.

Work emergencies suck, I hope everything went well. ?In fact, I should really be working now...

In any case, do you think we'll have a new list by Thursday? ?I'm an antsy flier, and need some good reading material before I leave on Friday :)

EDIT:  No?  Okay!

I reached out to Corey several times but haven't heard a thing since March 11th.  My guess is he is busy with work.

Can anyone explain to me in the context of the Necron list why Pariahs are fearless?  Obviously Necrons don't really feel fear in the classic sense and are prone to being broken like other formations, albeit the minutia of what is happening within that formation will differ from a broken Guard or Ork formation.

But are Pariahs that much more that they deserve the status of fearless?  Thoughts?

I would assume they're fearless in EPIC because they're fearless in 40k... and I would wager that's the only reason.

Think of them as the Commissars of the Necron army... *laugh*

Are regular Necron fearless in 40K though?

Nope, only the Pariah and the Tomb Spyders from "regular" units that are in Epic... not even the Necron Lords.

Of course, the C'Tan are are well.
