In any event, Battlegroups would tend to minimize this effect as each titan could be designed to offer mutual support to its brethren...as well as other units.

Aren't you already doing that when you equip multiple Titans in an army?

What greater effect would this have if they were one formation instead of three?

Indeed Chroma,

However, the full effect is only achieved when one has access to multiple titans...which is not always possible due to their cost and the need to have a decent number of activations.

From a fluff standpoint....I feel that the AdMech would organize the titan legions into some sort of units...i.e. battlegroups rather than just a collection of individual titans...and that they would tend to deploy them that way when sent into a battlezone...this is what I feel is missing in the current lists...(Though I do like your White Knight list very much! ) a sense of some sort of TO&E.

All other Imperial units have this...squads, platoons, companies, battallions...etc. ?They are the organizational building blocks...so why not the AdMech?

Most of the titan lists DO have this, in the sense that the non-titan units are limited by the titan units. Even if 3 Warlords are deployed into the battle zone, not all of them will be standing shoulder to shoulder (Infact, very rarely would I expect them to be!)

I've never had substantial problems fielding 2 or 3 battle titans to be honest. 3 reavers is very easy. 1 warlord and 2 reavers is pretty easy. Almost always I 'dedicate' my titans towards a single purpose. Reavers with 2 TLDs and 1 Volcano Cannon. Warlord with 2 MRLs and 2 Gatling Blasters, etc. Used against different kinds of targets and different ways.

It is, as a matter of fact, almost impossible to field an army under any of the most recent AMTL lists with LESS then 2 battle titans in it. And very very difficult to field one which could put up a credible fight at 3,000 points. I don't see much of an advantage towards giving them access to cheaper titans to pump up the number of titans being fielded in this sense. Far more likely I'd take a titan then take the smaller units to complement its abilities. An Anti-Personal titan with Anti-Tank support units or vice versa, for instance.

I don't disagree Ilushia,

But from a fluff standpoint, Warlords are supposed to be the backbone of the legions and if I remember correctly, Reavers are supposed to be rarer and harder to find than Warlords....which should imply that one should see a greater number of Warlords on the battlefield.

Its not whether or not you can deploy two Reavers and a Warlord in a 3000 point game...you obviously can.... but whether or not based on the written fluff...one should do so all the time.

In the end, it all comes down to how every indivdual likes to play the game and how they design their own individual titan legions..which is how it should be!

Of course it could simply be that most folks prefer the Reaver to the Warlord...it is faster and cheaper.

For the record...I very rarely deploy 3 titan battlegroups...I normally deploy two Warlords...or one Warlord screened by two Warhounds...both which work well for me.

I've run double warlords as well, can be pretty fun. The problem is ofcourse always going to be that warlords are more expensive, regardless of what background claims you'll always see less of them then Reavers over-all, since they're more expensive and slower and thus tougher to field!

As for Reavers being the 'oldest' titan, my understanding is that that's a relatively new piece of fluff invented for E:A. Not to say it's not still credible, but by my understanding the older material was generally that while Warlords are the 'backbone' of their armies, they're actually less common to see deployed then Reavers, especially multiples in the same area as they're more powerful. You're more likely to see a Warlord flanked by two Reavers then vice versa, essentially!

the warlord is meant to be the 'backbone' titan back in the days of the horus heresy i belive, (hence the original plastic one) but even if the reaver is the older less commonly produced design in current thinking its not to say there actually less common but just less are built to replace newer combat losses than the warlords due to the current imperial tech state..

or to word it other ways, feild what ever titans you want.. but i want warlords aplenty on the table, namely due to the fact iv more bettle backs than sense and 5 reavers...
