Well though i must wait until the 29th at the earlist to play a game I can still report on the experience of a couple of friends. They both play the three base races (though Orks are used infrequently, normally it is guard vs marines) and are fans of the demolisher.

This fandom has increased witht he proposed change I relayed to them.

There suggestion which has so far been tried once and seemed fine was to make the sponson weapons 30cm AP5+/AT5+ and lose slow fire. Not only did this make the impact at 30cm roughly what it was before but made admin easier, with a number in use every game they always forget which ones have fired and haven't.

I must say I quite like this. It removes book keeping, could indeed make any change neutral to the LR Demolisher and removes an 'infantry level' slow fire wepaon from the game (come on, 15 minutes of ifre then 15 minutes to recharge/change power cells?). Also as I think these are the only units to use the weapon it wouldn't impact anything else.

Why not. but keep it at 4+/4+. Simply erade slow firing and that would be easy bookkeeping. Do not alter the main gun ( no MW) and I think the plasma upgrade thingie is a good compensation to the 75cm - 30cm range reduction over the Leman Russ. 5+ makes it not really better than a heavy bolter which is not rally the case I think. (and the possibility to shoot on tanks is a meager bonus over a h. bolter, as you can only shoot on eighter type)

I think 4/4 is a bit to powerful, 5/5 seems more like an infantry heavy weapon. Also the idea is not to power up the unit further!

5/5 non slow firing seems pretty reaonable.
