...if you had you had the time/space/money to create the ultimate game of BFG!
What would you guys choose to do?
I would go for a massive (and I mean apocalyptic!) muliti-player game centered on the Sol system!
- It would be fully modelled, with all the planets in 3D and the asteroid belt beyond Mars.
- Add in a generous helping of planetary defences, space stations, starforts, etc.
- Plus a few nice tips, like the (almost) hidden Grey Knights base and some experimental goodies around Mars.
- Not forgetting a huge chaos fleet as Abaddon breaks out of the Cadian gate during the 13th Crusade, bypasses the intervening systems as much as possible and goes to pay a social call on Terra.
- In his wake, of course, would be a few DE, Orks and other miscellaneous forces.
- Opposing this would be a scratch force of Imperial defenders who would struggle to hold off the overwhelming forces of chaos, making full use of their home ground advantage and just trying to protect Earth long enough for the scattered (but numerous!) elements of the Imperial Navy to catch up to the Despoiler.
Well, I can dream! ?

Jackhammer,
Wow! It sounds pretty impressive. You should write up some of your ideas and send them to the magazine as an article.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

...and then I would have that linking to my 40 x 60 foot game of Epic being simultaneously played on the planet beneath!
Oh, and don't forget the 5 full Chapters of SM that show up in their Battle Barges and Strike Cruiser squadrons half way through the game as Imperial reinforcements...
Well, you did say the "Ultimate Game" and without budget constraints!
Have you seen the pic of the STUPIDLY large BFG game played at Games Day 02 (?) ?
- It was pretty awesome; there was an umpire in the middle to move ships around!

I would like to focus on the invasion of Iyanden by the 'Nids. Recreate it in a linked campaign combining all three systems. (BFG, Epic, 40K)
And then see if they survive, or get totally crushed.

I'd try to do a game in 3 dimensions possibly by hanging the ships and scenery from a rack above a black back drop or maybe on a multilayered perspex table. Though the brute force and ignorance approach of a massive battle for Earth does appeal but the ordinance phase may drive you mad!

I saw an awesome WW2 naval games once that was played in 5 dimensions using perspex. There was the sea surface (obviously) then low and high altitude aircraft, then periscope depth and deep depth for submarines.
Took awhile to get your head around it when looking at it... but it was Cool

As for the ordnance phase, the table would (of course!) have a dedicated team of snotlings to help with all that .

I'll settle for Rachel Weiscz or Keira Knightly

Snotlings! What will you do when they start chewing the ships! I would much prefer lots of fit birds in uniforms pushing the ships around with sticks (to my orders of course
) just like thos WW2 operations rooms.
