Markconz - No problem. As I understand it, your compilation was put together for your own group. I just dont want people to feel that any involvement or contribution is not accepted, and that we will spend time reinventing the wheel with this.

Do you have plans for hosting and distribution of this tome?

Well yes something will definitely be ready and finished for my own group by Novemberish (which is when I plan on running a tournament), and hopefully earlier. However, as I have said I definitely don't want this being just a set of house rules for my own group. Hence my statement about Neal Hunt being the final word on issues.  Also you are quite right that people shouldn't spend time 'reinventing the wheel' given that I have basically done what needs to be done. Of course proper PDF's with all the background/pictures for units etc need to be done at some point, but this handbook should be pretty useful until (or if) that happens.

Just to make it clear, feedback will be listened to and Neal Hunt can be 'God Jervis' over all changes if he wants.  :;):

By the way the latest version is up now. I've changed the highlight colour of changes to blue because it is easier on the eyes:
http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin....y212569

Unless I am missing something, all main rulebook and swordwind revisions are complete(!!) except for hit allocation (1.9.6) and fearless (2.1.3). I'll get on to adding the Chaos lists and master FAQ in preparation for the Beta version.

A final version approved by the committee/quorum/community here and hosted by Epicomms sounds terrific (and even SG if they want it...), but probably easier if I just use my current host while development continues apace.

Actually one request -  it  would be helpful if I could add this 'EpiComms EA Rules Amendments' section as one of the sections I am a moderator of so I could easily lock any handbook development, version, and poll threads I start to prevent confusion once an issue is decided upon? If that's ok let me know.

All members should be able to lock any topic that they start, even where they are not a moderator. Let me know if you cant do this.

As for hosting, I will wait for Neals return. However, I would be happy to host and link it into the main Epic resources if Neal agrees that it fits.

Thanks.

Moscovian - Community - Moscovian will keep tgrack of the various developments undertaken by the community, here and other places. This will include the up and coming Raiders suppliment, fan based lists such as the third phase Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, and so on.

I thought I was going to be the Font Champion?  :p

I also expect that Hena and Moscovian would work together in the gray area of force lists, such as variant Marines, Eldar Craftworlds, etc.

Sounds like fun.  BL & Markconz, I'll probably reach out to you today or tomorrow to go over things and pick you brains on your particular visions of progress for our little movement here.  Anyone with specific ideas for supplements or other projects can always email or PM me.  My first thought goes to Chroma with his mega-supplement in the works.  There are plenty of resources/ideas that I think we can all share when building these things.

And what are we calling this re-org anyway?  NetEA seems to assume that SG support is gone, which it isn't at this time, NetEpic is taken... EpicII? :;):

I will be happy to be helpful collecting all the lists out there :)
It would be veryhelpful if we could get ONE place to upload all the different armylists. For now all of the lists i created are on Quicksharing but these will be deleted if no one downloads them for a certain time ( 3 month IIRC)

PS: No blackhorizon and i aren't related to eachother :D

I am more than happy to host any EA stuff for an indefinite time. Just email them to me.

A slightly better idea might be to create a wiki for the new rules and then host it online.

Then we can add certain people as section editors and allow them to update the rules and people can post comments for changes or just link back to here for discussion.

Then the rules are always online and always easy to get access to.

I would suggest that the first steps might be taking the E:A rule text, stripping out all of the 40K references and then posting them as a generic set of rules and then editing and amending them.

I can confirm that a Wiki is on the way. I have one set up already, and the moderators and I are having a play. Right now, it is running very slow... too slow. As soon as I have this resolved, I will open it officially.

However, I am unsure about the idea of moving development to a Wiki. We need to be very clear here, if we were developing a new rules set, or NetEA, then a Wiki would be an excellent format - and if/when we do this, we will probably go down this road. However, the current goal is to organise and map out the rules the exist officially. I believe that for this, a relatively static web site with pointers and explanations is a better route. The Wiki will be used for FAQs and pointers, along with general info about wargaming.

I'd prefer to see work done on a generic NetEA ruleset that had the core E:A rules and the current updates added to it. Just without the GW IP in it.

Once that was done then it is easy enough to fork that document and then develop a new rule set based on it but it does mean that people have a generic ruleset as a basis and that you can also point E:A gamers to the ruleset as a more up-to-date version of E:A.
