Here's some advice I've been meaning to post for a long time now.

About 8 months ago I noticed a weird, hard speck inside of my right glasses' lense. It wasn't a chip. It was a tiny blob of resin.

So, wear your mother-(strong anglo-saxon expletive) safety glasses. If a speck of resin can fly out of the mixing cup, and land scant millimeters away from my retina, it can certainly land in the eye.

Retina transplants aren't cheap. If resin can degrade industrial silicon, it can really screw up delicate human tissue.

And although Bladerunner predicted the wide availablity of custom made eyes.... it may have been off by a few years.

And I'm always reminding us, that the dust from the F/W Resin is TOXIC ... if you are doing a lot of sanding, do it outside (if possible) and wear a painter's mask and goggles (got mine at Sears).  May sound silly, but after our NBC training in the Army ... you'd be surprised how fairly easy it is to contaminate someone ...  :ghostface:   So again, that brings up my favorite rant about F/W!  But you've heard that all before ! :D

Hey.. good to see I'm not the only one who shot resin into their eye. Earlier in the year i had been using my dremmel to clean up a bunch of FW stuff, using safety glasses and mask etc. Job done i took off the gear, then notice a little bit i'd missed. In doing the little touch up a bit flew off and hit me in the eye. After a day and a half of pain, countless eye baths and eye drops it came out. Good thing to because it was in my field of vision. Now i always were PPE (personal protective equipment).

However that won't always save you. Another funny story, well not funny really, but we aussies have a weird sense of humour.. a fella at work was working on batteries with all the safety gear, gloves, goggles etc.. again with the job done he wiped his forehead to wipe away the sweat. In doing so wiped acid off onto his head which the sweat carried into his eyes. Thankfully he had a full recovery, but it shows you can't be too safe.
