I?ve been going through the official Chaos lists, and there are obviously a lot of OOP minis needed for a decent army. In addition, there?s a number of units in the lists which I don?t believe have ever had minis or even been drawn / designed at all.

They are:
1. Decimator
2. Death wheel
3. Hellfire cannon
4. Big Mutants
5. Chaos altar
6. Land transporters

Am I right in assuming these have never been made? If so, I?m thinking of making some, casting and maybe even offering for sale. After all, without an existing design, and provided I?m careful with names, there shouldn?t be a copyright issue. The only unit with a problem would be the Defiler; but I have a sneaky little plan for that one?

Any opinions on this? Good idea or total madness?
Regards,
Reaver

You are correct, but I know a few people have scratchbuilt a Death Wheel, which from what I remember isn't all that hard to construct. I believe Warmaster Nice built one. I think he might have built a Decimator as well.

Here's what I've been using:

3. Hellfire cannon

Cannons of Khorne or Cauldrons of Blood.
4. Big Mutants

Chaos Minotaurs and Trolls.
6. Land transporters
Seigemaster Siegfried Tanks and Ork Battlewagons (both old and new).

The rest, well, there's plans with OOP models for a lot of them.

Madness? ?THIS IS EPIC!!!

Good luck and I'd love to see what you come up with.

I've made my decimators from Forgeworld 40k Cyclops demolition vehicles with some guns and Chaos Warrior bits stuck on them to make them more deamon-y and fit with my other WE.  The early BL lists described them as steam punk WWI tanks* which is what gave me the idea.

* This was when it was expected that there would be a run of new models...

For me optional spikes are the best.

Same as Chroma, with the exception that since the Land Transporters come from the Land family, I see these as downrated Land Raiders without lascannon.
As for the Doomwheels - I made mine from clicky model bases.  :p

Mechanical gun crab?

Mobile Oppression Palace?

Providing minis that aren't otherwise available seems like an excellent idea!

my Defilers are quite easy scrach builds
as i dont have abundance of old epic parts
all i used was plasticard and part of berserker head
and 2 skulls on the other

sorry for pic quality, but my camera macro is not enough to give them better shots

PS: and spikes !! i forget about spikes ;>

Madness?  THIS IS EPIC!!!

Do we have a community motto in the making?

Anyway it is a great idea to either create models for the missing minis or creating detailed conversion directions.
