Hi.
At first I have never played a game of BFG, just read rules once through. But mainly my interest is with those beautiful ships and I found that I don't even need so many to have (hopefully) playable fleet. I got nice job this summer and I think it is okay to get some new models to my hands.

And mainly interests are both eldar fleets and I made few test lists to have a better overall picture. I have a friend interested also and we start to play some training games soon. But I would appreciate all comments and feedback and all tips are welcome with this new task. Here is two fleets and they are made with method that I tried to include little bit of everything and chose models as they pleased my eye.

pts Dark eldar fleet
100 archon
50 2 rerolls
230 torture-torpedoes
250 torture launch bay
250 torture launch bay

150 3 escorts- torpedoes
150 3 escorts-lances
150 3 escorts-lances
150 3 escorts- impalers

1480 total

pts Eldar fleet
100 prince

380 void stalker
210 shadow cruiser
250 eclipse cruiser
120 3 nightshades
120 3 nightshades
120 3 hemlocks
195 3 aconites

1495 total

Pretty good fleets for starters, a good mix of vessels so that you can get a handle on what works. You will probably end up adding another Eclipse to the Corsair fleet, as it is pretty much the only defence against enemy bombers and torpedoes.

That is true, I'll try to have few games soon and I know if additional eclipse is mandatory. :)
Is that craftworld list much different in table than corsair list? Stats doen't seem so different but corsair models just look so good.

Thanks for replying. :)

Good lists, the Aurora light cruisers by Forgeworld are also nice models for the Corsair Eldar.
I'm no fan of the Shadow, better to change them for said Aurora's or more Nightshade/Hemlocks.

Personally I like the Craftworld Eldar vessels most (even if I have no full fleet of them yet!).
The main difference between Craftworld & Corsairs is the fact that the first are a Cruiser fleet and the latter an escort fleet.

OK. It appears that blackhorizon and I are on opposites on this.  :D

I am a much bigger fan of the Corsair list - the ships just look more deadly and the list has more focus for me (I find the Craftworld vessels a little 'big boned').

I also like the Shadow Cruiser. I also have a (mostly unassembled!) fleet of 54 Corsair vessels.

There are alternative (fan based) rules for the Eldar fleet - known as MSM (Move-Shoot-Move) rules, in Warp Rift and the epic40k.co.uk site, and a thread here about potential changes to the Eldar rules, if you have time to catch up with them.

Edit:

Cybershadow means: MSM is official and the fan based set is called MMS.

In MMS the movement Eldar have in the ordnance phase under MSM is scratched. In MMS Eldar move twice in the movement phase.

Check the full fan rules out on here:
http://www.epic40k.co.uk/rules/gothic/geldarmms01.html

That is the latest version (v1.5) and changes is places from the version in Warp Rift.

Here is what I call the development thread on MMS:

happy gaming!

Thanks guys.
I'll check those rules and try them when basics are learned properly. Thanks for the links.

Which rules you use in your games? does new MMS work better to resemble eldar warfare?

I'll make my first order at beginning of june and I'll let you know how games are going. :)

Cheers.

I'm biased, I'm the MMS author together with Sigoroth.

So I use MMS!

I shoud have read it more precisely. :)  That list has beautiful look, and personally I like that all rules/data is in same place and there is no need to look from dozen different books. I'll give it a spin.

Now I have read MMS rules and I really like them. Only holofields seem to be little confusing at start, but maybe games will reveal more feeling behind them. But overall they seem to work much nicer than with orginal rules.

I also wondered all those ordnance markers, Is there any proxies around? I mean models, not just flat markers, or do I have to scratchbuild them?

Thanks. I try to get some ships ready for Gothicomp also. :)

Most people use the rules in the official book (MSM). You just happened to be talking with the 2 main defenders of MMS around the internet. Just be warned about that ;)

The markers yes, there are models in the GW online stores. For torpedoes, you can make them cutting round toothpicks, so it is better not to buy the extremely expesive GW ones, though!! :D

Waiting for your gothicomp ship :)

Cheers,

Xavi

Cybershadow a defender of it? I really don't know Cybershadow's opinion on the rules themselves!

I do know he likes the PDF!

I really like the layout and design of the document!  :D

To be honest, I havent had the opportunity to play them enough to form a solid opinion. I do think that the concept is very interesting and on paper a better mechanism than the blue book.

I agree, on paper it looks good, but let's see if games prove that. :)

I'll think I make markers myself, little bit more work, but is so much cheaper.

Thanks.
