Hi,

Unfortunately I didnt get chance to look around as I would have liked to.  I am always interested in what is new for epic and anything else that takes my fancy as I walk around.

We had quite a crowd milling around and chatting to us and having a go at commanding a few formations.  You could certain tell who had played Epic before and at the end there was someone who was lethal in their dice rolling.

As for the Scenary.  I apologise Evil & Chaos, the pre outpost pieces were very much out of scale which I totally missed.  So if you went by scale you might be able to just about get a squat walking through, and I wasnt too happy about that.  So they were sent back to be corrected.  I am not sure what you mean about the flaws in the new ones, but they are technically the old ones with a slight extension at the bottom and obviously the ground basing.

As for the game, there are a few things that I know need to be changed. The feedback we have had is very positive and I am really happy about that.  It would be impossible to sound unbaised but the game for me flows really well with exception to certain aspects of the rules that need addressing.

It would be nice to see what others thought of the day and how the game played...

Doug

the ground basing.

Yep, that's what I don't like.

I'm gonna have to add green stuff'd tapers to the mud there, and also blend the mud piles with the doors on the larger room pieces (As the docking points lack corrisponding mud piles and leave more unsightly gaps.

My personal preference would have been to have the bases entirely without the mud piles.

Still satisfied with the product though. :)

Is there a rules set for the DRM available in the net? Or are you planning to sell them (or both in a way the SG does it)? I'd interested to read through them if they are available in net.

The DRM rules will be online as a free PDF very soon. Definitely within the month.

They play well, you can pick them up quickly & there's a good number of tactcal options for each of the armies, but we're not going to be claiming them as a polished finished product just yet.

The PDF will be for the gaming world to provide feedback & help us playtest to iron out the last creases.

Once thats done, I'm sure there will be a printed version available, but we're not putting a date on that just yet. We've been in wargaming long enough to know that getting it right takes time. :;):

We've put considerable efforts in over the last year to get a good core mechanic together & those who have played it thus far seem to think its been well worth the effort, but there is more to do especially with the army lists themselves.

E&C:
The addition of the dirt piles can leave some gaps depending on the layout. Overcoming that is something which Doug & Myself are currently talking about, although it doesn't help you in this instance.

Any comments you have are much appreciated since they can only help us in improving the line available  from DRM :)

I'd just leave the dirt piles off of future castings to be honest, and add pipework or bracing struts instead.

I think the dirt piles actually decrease the quality of the model, rather than providing benefit.

If the end user wants dirt piles, he's probably skilled enough to add them himself.

JMHO.

E & C

I think in hindsight when we were trying to sort out the scale problem Bob N did what he did to save on the costs since the outpost itself wasnt cheap and to start again wouldnt have been the best way forward unless it was really required.  I do understand your points and it does make sense.  I havent finished with that outpost and as Paul has mentioned we can do something about that as time goes on.  Again to repeat Paul's message I do welcome comments as it only helps us to improve what we have to offer.

The rules should be available to download soon, I am sorting that out myself, and it still needs work on.  I just didnt feel that some people could see and play it and others not.  It will be free to download and any feedback would be great.  So far its doing well but as I say it still has a way to go.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. Cast them without dirt piles and let the owner decide if he wants to add them. I like the idea about pipes and braces.

Cheers darkone.

I have to say I'm not a fan of pre-texturing in many cases, due to the repeating patterns you get (See my picture above for one example, there's a protruding piece of dirt on both tunnel pieces in the exact same place).

Again, I'm happy with my purchase, but I could have been happier.

PS: Bracing struts. :)

@ DS & E&C
Point taken, and as I say before I do agree.  I will see what I can do :)

There is more terrain in the pipeline anyway and I can try to make sure that this problems are sorted before the master mould casting.

Here's another voice asking pretty-please to leave the 'dirt' off.

Just so that we can send people on an infinite loop of clicking, DRM have a thread from Salute this year:

Many of you come from there anyway, but for those that dont...
