I'm painting Raziel.
So far so good, especially when I started using dishwashing liquid instead of water to thin the paints. Glazes and smooth transitions suddenly became ridiculously easy.
To try out some new stuff I concentrated on painting the miniature's left leg - as it is now, the results are pretty satisfying, but I'm still trying to figure out a good way to paint the bone details. Shadow Grey highlights on the black armor look pretty decent with two mid-tones (1/2 and 2/1 mixes with Chaos Black), while new ways to paint metals (the bionic leg parts) and Purity Seals look much nicer then my former ones.
I'll have a try at painting the bones this evening and then post some WIP pictures of the thing.

It also helps that I figured out a better way to hold the miniatures while painting - sticking the bases to tops of plastic medicine containers, in this particular case spent packings of OneTouch glucometer sensor bars. :D

I hope I get enough time for painting - someone has abandoned a box with small kittens inside, and a neighbor of ours found it. Guess to whom he handed the little critters... Yup, that's right. So we ended up with five small kittens - no older then two weeks from the look of things.

Well, convallecance leave is doing wonders for my painting. I have all but finnished my Devastator Company for the Blood Ravens with only a LR detachment to go. I have started on the infantry for my 5th Battle Company and I have base coated half the vehicles. To break the cycle I have put together another warlord titan and a strike cruiser. I am anticipating heavy casualties during the campaign and will need some reserves. I may have a crack at another reserve company, however I think I might save it for TOEG. On the terrain front I have drawn up the plans for my modular city terrain and have started placing orders to build the first 6 50 x 50cm squares. I have alot of work ahead, thank god Christmas leave period is fast approaching. Photos to come as the campaign progresses.

Cheers
CAL

P.S Galaxy in Flames arrived today and I am reading that during down time.

I didn't get much painting done this weekend, but I did manage to work on an E40k era objective, which is almost done. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. With any luck I'll have three done in time for the Council of Five Nations tourney.

Nice avatars there, Kr00za. Love the Warmachine one.

As promised, a WIP shot of what I managed so far on Raziel:

The bone turned out to be really simple - Bleached Bone, shade with a few glazes of Vomit Brown, highlight with a mix of equal parts Skull White/Bleached Bone, final highlight with a thin glaze of Skull White.

Comments?

Great work Boyz ! ?And T5H, congrads on your new critters ! :D I've always liked animals ! ?Better than people most of the time ! ?:D ? ? ? ? With the extra Troops from the IG C-pac that I got in a trade with W/N, I made an HQ ! ?He more than doubled the number of troops I expected ! ? So I made added 4 OLD Guard IG an extra Cat JF and made a Bn HQ Sec. (2 stands,?based on an old CJ SM2 article). ?I made a Flag (we still use flags on all our CMD stands, ala SM1), using old Tamiya DAK Decals ! :D ?Sehr Gut, Ya !

Nice avatars, kr00za! This one is my favourite - my favourite video game when I was an adolescent was Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, so this takes me right back! :D

And excellent work on Raziel, t5h - it looks like it will be one of your best miniatures yet!

I'm working on Raziel's helmet right now, with about two hours of work already behind me (can't say for sure, I was painting in-between taking turns in a match of HOM&M V with a pal of mine).
About two hours of work more to go (because of the eyes and the few small metal bits here and there), but it already looks hell of a lot better then the one on the old Raziel. Thin semi-transparent coats of Bleached Bone over Vomit Brown result in a very nice aged/polished bone appearance.

Worked on those 4 Mk.1 (P) Rhinos, that I mounted 2mm weapons from GZG on.  About 95% complete !  And took pics of some of my terrain on BZ 459 ... will post pics Sunday ?  (bonus point question - BZ 459 ... what book was that from ?!  :D )

Finished working on the helmet, altough I think I'll go back and do a little touch-up on the metallic bits.
The bone coloration turned out surprisingly well, and I managed to get the transitions pretty smooth as well. Painting the eyes (due to how deep into the helmet they are set) wasn't easy, but in the end I managed to do it without fouling up the surrounding areas.

I've taken a few pics, but they turned out just horrible (think it's the lighting).
Because of that, the soonest I'll be able to show the result to you is on Monday.

That's Raziel's helmet, as promised. For some reason, the light/dark contrast turned out sharper in the picture then it is in reality.
And it looks like I'll have to redo the mouthpiece a bit, because it looks a bit too flat IMO.

By the way... didn't put in as much work into painting Raziel as I intended. That's cause I finally got a grip on myself and started on a project I wanted to do for well over a year.
Wire skeleton & base : ready.
Green Stuff: underway...
Yup, I'm trying to sculpt a miniature. Trying is the key word.  :p
