Please take a look at the changes to the Eldar proposed by Sotec, the Eldar Army Champion, over on the Specialist Games site here.

This went from potentially modifying the titans, spirit stones and hit and run to modifying those and nearly every unit in the BT list. ?There are substantial changes here.

:( Its worse than that...

13 unit stat changes, 4 special rules modifications, 5 point changes, and 5 re-works of formation composition / restriction.  The ideas individually aren't bad, just the package deal that has many (me inlcuded) shaking our heads.

If it was that unbalanced, how did anyone ever lose with the Eldar army? ???

I will say some of the items are interesting.  Its just a  lot.  We need some serious playtesting of this.

To be fair he is listening to input and has changed the suggestions twice in the last few days. I think many of the changes are positive and will endeavour to playtest when I get the chance.

Some of these changes I really like (Like the Pulse-weapons being unaffected by the model's move-rate) and feel very fluffy and appropriate for the army style (It means you really will want to keep doubling every turn with your Phantoms and Revanents) but some of them I really really hate (like the Holofield changes). I think a lot of them are a bit silly (like the change to the structure of the Guardians). I decidedly do like the changes to the aircraft point-costs. And the change in their tank formations (Before that change I would never field Fire Prisms... And I really love Fire Prisms, they're probably my favorite Eldar tank). But the lot of them definitely need a lot of playtesting before anything is done with them.

Wow, that's certainly an ... extensive set of changes.

I remember Spirit Stones ended up being extremely controversial, but I don't play Cheddar at all to be able to comment about a lot of this.  That change seems to fix a lot of the complaints I remember, although it's funny that one guy commented that he'd been playtesting Eldar without Spirit Stones, and the only formation that needed them was a small armor formation.  (Didn't I propose an upgrade for the Tau to alleviate the small formation leadership problem?  Oh, yeah, it's called a Networked Drone!)

I'm still not entirely impressed with the new Holofield rules.  Also, the presentation could use some work (says the professional editor) to make the intended changes clearer.

It's good that he's listening to people, though.

Hmm its either a feast or a famine with these Eldar champs isn't it?  :;):

I haven't the time to playtest such an extensive list of changes, so I'll have to leave it up to the more dedicated.

Note - version 1.2 of changes is now up which looks to be better.

Well, I get an Eldar lis finally painted up and Sotec comes alive!!

Hah, well, I'm glad to see that he's listening. I'm glad to see that change is coming. Its long overdue.

This extensive list is at first to me a bit of sticker shock, but a few quick observations...

1) the need change is recognized by management
2) he's listening to the issues and working to address
3) he's making modifications
4) the list is indeed experimental with playtest encouraged

Even Eldar fans (as well as opponents) realize their are poblems here and the Craftworld lists lie in waiting fo the baseline to be 'fixed'.

I think his acceptance and renewed effort to work on the problems are steps in the right direction.

Now, its up to the community to guide the solutions and give feedback.

Once the sticker shock is over and the smoke clears, I think there are some good ideas there that can be cultivated, some I just simply have to apply to see if I can work with. In spirit though, he's well on the right track from this Eldar player and Opponent's point of view.

SO, the right place to give feedback to these drastic changes is the SG forum or is it here? I guess it's the first but wanted to ask anyway.

The SG forum is the better bet.  I haven't seen Sotec/Tepoc poke his head in around here in a while, though he might be lurking.

All this stuff going on I missed the Epicomms move. That what I get for bookmarking a subsection. Might be too late now. Please follow the changes on Specialist games.

He seems out of touch from what has gone on here over the years. I doubt it except for the few times I asked him to poke hiis head in here.
