Intellectually, I fully agree with everything everyone says about bidding your highest, etc., etc., but emotionally I still find sniping to be cowardly, craven, underhanded, and deceitful. An emotional response straight from the gut, but there it is. Anyone who does it should be boiled in their own paint-pot and buried with a stake of sprue through their heart.

Quote (Jimbo @ 13 Mar. 2006 (07:32)) | Quote (primarch @ 11 Mar. 2006 (17:53)) | I must say that at the end of the day bidding your highest is the easiest method. Once I bid I dont even look at the auction anymore and wait for the "you won or you lost" e-mail. |
and here is some evidence.
I bid my highest on this item off eBay (something for my son.
I put in a bid of ?8.01 and left it to its own devices.
Someone then tried to snipe at ?7.25 ten seconds before the end of the auction and they lost out as I had bid my highest before the end of the auction.
Check out the bidding history to see the times.
And I won the auction. | Hi!
Indeed, you prove my point. I have won more acutions this way than lost and lost more auctions by bidding in increments.

True it is galling from a purely emotional stance, then again imagine the kick one gets by winning with you single initial bid...
