Orks are not organised in the sense that clans are. |
I think you have a different sense of clans than the way it is intended. Every tribe has at least most clans present.
I see it not so much organized as just "birds of a feather." Bad Moons are greedy, rich, and flashy, so they hang out with other greedy/flashy/rich orks, i.e. other Bad Moons. This is no different than, say investment bankers knowing and hanging out with and dressing like other investment bankers in human society, as opposed to some kind of "Rotary Club versus Kiwanis Club smackdown."
To be fair, it used to be much more 1-clan-1-tribe, but the more recent (3rd ed forward) background has abandoned that.

For me Orks are just Orks there are no real variations...
I do appreciate that some people like the clans, I don't.
For me Orks are too tribal to organise themselves even with just hanging around.

Hi!
I am of the inclination to agree with Jimbo in the sense of "no clans". I dont see how the orks can be a successful space faring race with the severe limitations a clan structure would impose.
Also, as with SM and eldar, once you sub categorize them this way some factions are invariably better than others.
However it is hard to eliminate such things since they have been part of the fluff for so long.

I guess it would however bring new meaning to the term "squat party"
Oh... and for those unfamiliar with the term "Chav":

Quote (vanvlak @ 11 Feb. 2006 (11:04)) | As for the clans - sigh, sorry Jimbo, I love 'em! Ever since I read the ancient 40K Freebooterz | Actually the Freebooterz was the only aspect of Clans I did like. I liked the piratical (sp?) aspect of the Freebooterz.
I saw them copying the Rogue Traders and wearing pirate type costumes.

They had their own book, if I recall. I liked those old fluff books. Very nice to read.
