Right, this is my first post, so hello everyone, this is a nice board!

I am currently painting up some leftover eldar to use against my Ultramarines. Its only a small eldar army (say max. 4000p in NetEpic/2ed terms), BUT with a lot of infantry. I feel that eldar infantry models are very nice, but painting them is timeconsuming. I just finished 4 stands of wraithguard. They look very good, BUT they took me many hours to paint (I painted them model by model rather than stand by stand). Now I am looking to paint some eldar harlequins, but I dont want to spend too much time doing so, BUT that seems impossible because the harlequins are supposed to be done with varied colours and a generaly striking appearence.

So how do I paint harlequins FAST?

Any kind of tip is most welcome.

P.S. Im generally a perfectionist when it comes to painting, so I wont make any "cheap shortcuts" (i. e.not painting like its "supposed to" be done, single colours just to speed it up and so on).

I think I would first base them in a light color, a yellow or very light green etc. Let it dray. Then I would use a fine brush to place dots or very thin lines of color in various paterns onto the figures. By changing the colors and patern it will give the illusion of the bright colors of the Harlequins. However, by doing only slight lines and dots the time needed will be less then attempting to paint "dimonds and true stripes" of their normal colors.

What I would do is run a test. Paint up a couple of figures you do not care about, maybe guardians with broken guns etc. Just to see what it will look like. However, keep in mind that what I suggest looks best at arms length not up close.

Hehe this is a job I've got to do at the moment.. after I finish my BFG Imperials...
What I'm going to do is to paint them in opposing colours for each leg- on 1 model have 1 arm red and 1 white, and 1 leg red and 1 white, but on opposite sides... ??? ..if you get what I mean :) . I will also mix in different helmet colours, have some blue and white and so on...
