I agree ... No Titans for Squats ... they Have heavy AFVs ... Of course as in the "old days", Squats were Imperial allies so Titans could work with them ... just like IG & SMs ! :;): That's still the way we do it !  :;):

I don't think titans would fit in the theme of squats well. Instead, the Juggernaut vehicles of old times would fit them perfectly. Truly _gigantic_ tracked fortresses, bigger even than Capitol Imperialis. ?

Hi!

Agreed. A race of subterranean tech humoids would come up with slow moving heavily armored and armed vehicles.

The "largeness" is actually appropriate from a psychological standpoint, since a race of small humanoids would compensate their size with constructions on a grand scale.

Hi!

Epic is quite ahead of 40k in expanding the squats. It gave them some character in the form of huge warmarchines, which is difficult to do in 40k.

I think epic was developing them nicely as a Clan bound, tech race with emphasis on overly large vehicles and tanks. Too bad they were cut from Epic 40k.

Primarch

I completely agree. When I think of Squats, I never think of them in 40k terms, but rather as they are in epic, sci-fi versions of my beloved dwarves.

Also agree that Titans really don't fit their theme. Given all the super heavies they have, I never felt that Titans were lacking. Of course I did often use them with Titan allies!   :p

Heretic :D

My computer upgrades now all work, and I can create PDF files now, yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gharmull's Background is in the hands of the local players for their comments, and this weekend I will be recieving those, and will try to get it up Sunday or Monday for you guys here.

Two projects are slated for the Squats next, as we have encountered no problems with the two most recent lists. Players are to assume the old Striker is now the Thunder Raider, and the Squat Gorgon is the Mastadon. The revised lists will be gotten to Hena and CS later, but the names are the only changes, the stats are remaining the same.

What I really want from the group here is ideas for a fourth Squat Super Heavy Tank, and one or maybe even two possible new Battle Cars for the Land Train. (For the LT please do not suggest a Void Shield replenishing/repair Battle Car we already have tried that idea and couldn't make it work.)

These vehicles will be used for the Squat version of the Gargant/AMTL lists which I am working on the rough draft for at present, around other projects :wow:

Any other thoughts for the list like different Robots, and such are not only welcome but encouraged.

Thanks All

Jaldon :p

Sounds good. If you like, I can host this in the main section of this site, and put a link on these boards...

Gharmull?s Stronghold

Gharmull?s Stronghold is made up of only three systems each with only a handful of populated planets, and this would make on think that it is the weakest, and poorest, of all the known Strongholds in the Squat Confederacy, yet this is most definitely not the case. The Squats believe that the systems under Gharmull?s control are the first ever settled by the Squat race, and the fact that Gharmull?s name does appear as the very first signatory of the ?Act of Confederacy? seems to confirm this.

This makes Gharmull?s the single most ancient of all the Squat Strongholds, and therefore the Squat race holds it in the highest of reverence, some would even say awe. So for the Squats it seemed only natural that Gharmull?s Stronghold should also be home to both ?The Grand Council of the Confederacy? and ?The Engineers Guild Grand Lodge?. While it is true that the Grand Council itself holds little real power within the Confederacy, it is the repository of, and the interpreter for, ?The Law Book of the Ancestor Lords? making it the final arbitrator of disputes within the Confederacy. It is also the only body within the Confederacy with the power to test, and then appoint, a Grand Warlord to lead a League of Strongholds, or even the entire Squat race if needed. Considering that the Council itself is made up of the oldest ?Living Ancestors? from each Stronghold there isn?t a single Squat that would dispute any decision the Council would make.

?The Engineers Guild Grand Lodge? is the exact opposite of the Grand Council and it literally rules over all the Guild Lodges that are spread across the entire width and breadth of the Confederacy. This arrangement may seem odd compared to the loose organization of the Confederacy, but this tight reign prevents the individual Lodges from being able to take sides in internal disputes, while at the same time creating a central repository for all the collected knowledge of the entire race so that all can benefit from it. While there is no formal arrangement that makes the Engineers Guild subservient to the Grand Council, the Guild Masters themselves feel it is their duty to serve the entire Squat race and to accomplish this requires them to remain under the control of the Council.

The small size of Gharmull?s means that it fields the smallest Brotherhoods compared to other Strongholds, however these meager forces are heavily reinforced by the forces of the Engineers Guild, which itself has the resources of the entire Confederacy to draw from. So while Gharmull?s will often field a small force, that army will contain a much higher percentage of Guild equipment compared to other Strongholds.

Any thoughts before I make it un-official official?

Sounds good CS, thanks, but it is going to be a week or two, maybe even three before I am done with it.

Jaldon :p

Note To Cyber Shadow: Please DO NOT put this in the Consolidated Squat List area yet. Instead leave it here in the commentary post for now, read on to see why.......

Imbach's Stronghold
For the first time in the Squat Project we are not going to playtest "In House" for a bit and then post the list, instead, we are going to post the same 'raw list' we will be starting with, so we expect trouble right out of the box!

These 'raw lists' start out by leaning heavily on what we already know works, twisted a bit for the new list, and then is modified as we go to fit the goals we have set for that list. So saying "Hey, Jaldon, Are you Nutz!" will be perfectly acceptable from the start as input is the final goal.

The Goals For Imbach's Stronghold
We want to create a list that depends heavily on it's War Engines, aka AMTL/OGBM, hits the enemy with sledgehammer hard firepower, and has all the maneuverability of a wounded Grot. We also want it to have difficulty establishing a continuous front, the same foible that the AMTL/OGBM suffer from.

I like the list for Imbach's Stronghold.

One comment, I don't know if it should be called a "Super Heavy Tank Battery", since "battery" implies more than one of something.

Hey Jaldon, quick question.
If I am using the experimental rules for IDF then I double my range but have a minimum range of 30cm. How does this apply to the mega cannon? Would it now read 30 ? 180cm if firing indirectly or 60 ? 180cm or what??
