I think a lot of it also were lots of little posts from people (like me) who hadn't learnt to respond to multiple posts with one post :) And then had to take a while to learn how to quote!

When JJ and the folks at SG gave each Champion the right to decide how things were to be done. It sanctioned the champions up to and including doing the list themselves.

I think that this is a very important point. In effect, JJ put the control of the development of a force in the hands of the Champion. This reflects on SG and also on sales, so carries a responsibility.

It is also of note that different forces attract different players and naturally gravitate towards different methods of development. I think that the worst thing to do is to try to make all the lists develop in the same way and via the same medium. Some lists need a 'steering group', some a single controller and some have more community decisions - and this can change over time.

Although the number of posts were high, there was a lot of information and ideas being debated as well.

I could have ignored the "me too" or "I agree" posts. But there were some very long posts with debates going. Took a long time to read all of them and then digest what was being said and why.  :)

In the long run, I believe it helped the list but it was very hard keeping up with the flood.

Well... if we are taking requests... Emperors Children! Emperors Children! Emperors Children!  :D

The EC are probably the easiest to run using the BL-list.  They would probably have a mix of standard loads and noise marines, which BL has to have.  Proxy a few knights as Predators and Questors as Ferals and you're pretty much done.  If you want to play EC, but still contribute playtest feedback, I would encourage you to do so.

I know Audrey/Wraeththu is quite keen on developing an EC list as a variant once the core list is set.

I think an EC-specific list would be incredibly easy to knock out.  Take the BL list, drop the new WEs.  Replace them with Knights and Questor/Subjugator (with a slight point bump for improved strategy and initiative) and you're done.  It would certainly be good enough for friendly games.

We have always on this site went by "DO what works for You!" ?:;): ?I understand about "official" lists, I say go for it. ?But unless there is a concern about Tournament Rules (and I imagine for some there is), Jervis has always said use the rules as a "guide", otherwise. ?I've been playing EPIC since '90, so have been thru all the iterations, and never played any version "out-of-the-box". I don't like Knights, we rarely fielded Titans and if we did it would only be 1 or 2 per side (SM1 25% rule), and for example, I don't see any reason for SM/CSM specific lists (I think SM1 and 2 handled that ? correctly/well. ?However, what we do in our "War Room", should not affect what you do. So arguing over what you or I like is like arguing over who has the prettiest girl, smartest dog, fastest car etc.... It just "don't" matter ... do what works for you ... unless you are involved in an "official game" at a convention or something and then you are at the Game Masters' mercies ... Play a your own risk ! ? ?Oh yeah, remember ... it's just a "fricking" game with toy soldiers ... I've got more important things to get upset about in life (and do !) then if you use Knights on your board to play a game ! :D

Like Neal mentioned above. ?I am planning on writing the Emperor's Children and Alpha Legion lists. ?Jervis gave me the ok to do the lists. ?I just have been focused on writing the Lost and Damned, plus helping out with the Black Legion list. ?Once those are closer to their turn in dates (September 2005) I will start on the EC and Alpha Legion.

This thread was drifting off towards a place that I did not want to go. I was faced with the choice of simply locking it (and wathcing to make sure that it did not resurface elsewhere), deleting it or editing it.

Therefore, I have deleted a number of posts. Having one of your posts deleted does not relate to blame or 'doing anything wrong'. I have deleted posts that I felt could potentially take the thread in to a bad place, or those which did. If you feel upset that a post of yours has been deleted, then I apologise but ask for your understanding (and also realise that not all posts were purged in this way).

This is a friendly place. I dont know nor particularly care if people have a history outside these boards. At EpiComms everyone is a member here. Discussion smuggled in from other boards (good or bad) will be dealt with. Everyone starts off here equally, and how they deal with that and progress is their choice. Further acts of unfriendly fire (from any direction) will result in warnings. Enough warnings will result in ejection from the boards.

I am sorry if this seems harsh, but I do believe that it is important to draw lines clearly.

Thank you. We now return you to your regular programs.

Hi Audrey,

I'm glad to hear that everything is well with you (And hopefully your new house as well... ).

I'll follow your lists with pleasure and I'm glad that you are around.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Emperors Children and Alpha Legion? My two favourite Chaos Marine forces!  :D  Please let me know when this is under way. I would very much like to be kept up to date/contribute to this.

Thanks.

Well, I'm here. (Sotec/Tepoc)

I get to start my new job as a red-shirt at the same time all this is happening. Great timing huh?

Personally I'm a little leery about using forums. I firmly believe that the champion has to playtest with a local crew and see the list in action, if only to see the games in progress. The point is to get a list that works, is limited in some way, and faithful to the fluff of the game.

The ERC will go a long way towards providing a control for lists (a second line of sober thought) so there's less danger of players simply tooling up lists and releasing them in a haphazard way.

Just wait til you see the Biel-tan list when I'm done with it...
Cheers!
Tepoc

The thing is some of us want to help as well. We are also interested in some of the variant lists, Ulthwe in my case, and if we can't see where the main list is going then how can we work on our own list.

Has anyone hear of any other Army Champions that are going to take advantage of the offer here?

I know Maksim already has, but I would have thought others would have as well.

I'm willing to give it a try.

No problem. I assume that EA Craftworld Eldar works for you?

Hey Guys,

I've made the migration over too! I echo nearly everyone's sentiment that this is a somewhat unusual direction for a company to take in demonstrating 'more online support' but we'll survive.

On a positive note the folks here at Epicomms seem very welcoming and friendly so I'm looking forward to meeting new friends.

As I stated in the old forums I'm happy to playtest any possible revisions that the Eldar list may have on the table.

Adam
