It appears so, like Cambrai, 1917 ... able to break thru, but unable to exploit ... :)

Hi!

Good analogy.

Unfortunately GW has yet to come up with Fuller's 1919 Tank Plan...... :;):

It reminds me more of the French Army of 1940.

Large, relatively well equipped, poorly led, fragile morale, defeated in detail...

Well hopefully this more streamlined version of the forums and greater moderator involvement will replace quantity with quality.  I haven't time to trawl through everything at the current Epic Forums. Plus if I feel like banter I feel more at home here after all this time... same bunch of people even if we have been from yahoo to epic40k.com to here :D

I also think that the current official epic forums are actually pretty healthy in terms of community (although too sprawling in design). There are some very experienced intelligent testers there (not naming names in case I miss people) and also a healthy influx of wide eyed newbies.

Hi!

I would LOVE for GW to really, truely to produce everything for epic. Everybody likes it when someone else does the work for them. But its been years since GW had that level of interest in epic. So I'd rather do it myself.... :;):

Oh I understand why your efforts are needed and why other support the effort. I did not mean to question why the world at large needs NetEpic.

Just wante to share where I fell in the "offical only vs. anything goes" range.

As I said, before ... E:A is their best effort yet !

I agree, and it is so sad that they seem unable to accept it.

I think I like this one best. It does seem to fit GW like a glove.

Oh, anyone who is still having the error while attempting to register... the one where it keeps reloading the 'accept button' page.... try turning off your firewall.  That can hinder certain pages from loading.

Hey Maksim if you dont mind will you share more of what your email as an army champion had to say? Just wondering? Anyway I hate to see the epic forums over there get shot down like this, sure they werent perfect and they were getting somewhat boged down at times with alot of people asking questions or voicing opinions that might not have helped us move forward but it is still a thriving community of people interested in epic, buying into it and hopefully spreading the interest in it around some more, I know I have been. I also know that GW makes alot of negative PR for itself by messing around like it does. Its really a shame that they have did so much to revamp Epic into Epic A and now seem bent on flat lining their support of it. Not to mention the other quality SGs.

In the end, we as fans have to do what works for our play group, but if the company is willing to support and give to the fans, I want to support them back.

Sad GW does not seem to always understand that.

I think it's safe to say that we all want to support them back, but given their track record, I'd be happy if all they did at this point was release new minis and reopen the archives. NetEpic has proven that there are enough talented, non-GW people, to continue writing high quality rules for E:A.

I can't see how streamlining the SG forum is anything but bad news. While I welcome new memebers, I certainly hope we don't get the raving fanatics. Or the newbies who think they know it all!  :p  :D

Or even the majordomo email list before that... :p

Hi Grim,

The E-mail basically says that GW wants better moderated forums to keep the pointless arguments off. The reason for the new format comes from up top. They don't like the negative arguments like have happened on the AMTL board and want the system to be more positive like we have here at Epicomms. There was a line about referring potential chatters to "less heavily moderated" forums like here. I didn't really like that line, but GW can be a prickly company at times.

There will not be separate boards for each army... each champion will start their own. Champion are now OFFICIALLY developers rather than fancy moderators. There has been no talk of any compensation for Champions other than being credited in the book when it comes out... probably in electronic format.

The deadline for my 'Nid list has been pushed back to Christmas 2005, but the other armies will be moved up slightly. The army list for Tau and chaos will be released later this year.

Don't quote me, please as this is not verbatim and is off the top of my head.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
