I'm trying to get a friend into Epic Armageddon. He's set on Tyranids, while I'm going to go with Space Marines. I've tried to draft up two lists (2000 p.ts) with the aim of having them roughly balanced between themselves (and functional enough to be considered "competitive"), but as I'm very inexperienced I'm totally unsure if they're any good. I'd appreciate any feedback you care to throw my way. 2000 POINTS Codex Astartes (NetEA Tournament Pack 2015) wrote: TERMINATOR [400] 4 Terminators, Chaplain THUNDERHAWK [200] 1 Thunderhawk gunship TACTICAL [300] 6 Tacticals plus Transport, Razorback PREDATOR [250] 4 Annihilator LAND SPEEDER [200] 5 Tornado LAND SPEEDER [200] 4 Landspeeder, 1 Tornado LAND SPEEDER [200] 4 Landspeeder, 1 Tornado MARAUDER SQUADRON [250] 2 Maurader bombers Main questions are: - Does the Thawk-transported Termie formation pack enough punch (assuming supported by at least one of the Sppeder formations)? - Are Speeders even the "right" choice to support an assault? Is plonking it all in a single squad as not to slow down the others a sound decision? - Are the Gargoyles useful support for the Harridans, or am I better off fielding them alone and using those 160 p.ts for an additional formation? |

Other comments: - I'd swap the Marauder for something else; Perhaps TBolts and upgrades. It's probably very good against Tyranids, but not against much else. |

could swap the third set of speeder to being scouts, then use the 50pts to change the second set of speeders into devastators (more variety, and probably a stronger build) Swapping marauders to tbolts gets you some air cover. Swapping the marauders for warhounds will be stronger on the ground in many cases, but only if you know you'll never need AA. |

Assuming you can get the THawk down without BMs it's a good assault formation loaded with just about anything. Failing that, landing, shooting and then supporting with Termiantors is useful as well if you have a ground formation without assault range. Bikes and Speeders are in most of my SM lists. The former I tend to assault with and the latter I support with. They're both good for late game objective grabs but Speeders are that much more annoying with Scout, hence why I don't tend to engage with them. I usually have 2 Zoanthropes and a Dom in a 3k game, so 4 Zoanthropes in a 2k should be good enough. I tend to hop the small swarms from cover to cover, so the 15cm Zoanthrope move doesn't slow them down all that much. They're usually able to get into a FF position when egaging turn 2 or 3. Gargoyles are handy for the extra FF. You need to make sure they're further from the enemy than the Harridan when engaging though, so you're not giving the opposition easier kills. Where are you located? |

Thanks for the pointers, everybody. I'll try to work them into a list. Dave wrote: Where are you located? Italy. Unfortunately the chance I can get involved with the UK community irl is pretty tiny. |
