Post subject:  1st Legion - which list to use
Hey all,

Now that my Epic Dark Angels force is larger than my 40K army (only just) I have been looking at what list I will use for them.
So far I have 2 Battle Companies and half of both the Deathwing and Ravenwing built, awaiting paint.

Ideally I want to use the Dark Angel list, however it is still in experimental with no recent activity in the forum.

What alternate Space Marine list would you recommend or is it best to work with the experimental list?

The other option I was looking at was writing my own Dark Angels rules, however getting a game with them may be on the harder side :)

nothing to stop you using the codex marine list for dark angels. Very flexible list structure and you often see lots of terminator and land speeder use in codex marines anyway.

My Space Marine army is Dark Angels but I use the Codex Marines rules for them because of the direction taken with the Dark Angels list.

There's also the Epic UK Dark Angels list (http://epic-uk.co.uk/lists/DarkAngelsQuickRef.pdf) which has been used in multiple tournaments (http://epic-uk.co.uk/ukepicachampionship/albyr.php).

Repeating Apoc here: I'd recommend the NetEA codex list. All the DA-specific organizational "quirks" like ravenwing, deathwing, can be represented with that one because of the list's flexibility. That's my plan for all my future-DA models anyway.

Cheers for the advice guys, looks like Codex Marines are the way to go.

Does anyone know when work will restart on the Dark angels list? If I can I would like to keep the army compatible when it gets out of experimental.

Well it'll see movement when people play and batrep it, basically. How about you take it out for a spin?

Oh also don't forget to keep an eye out for the 30k list that'll show up eventually from FatDex and crew. They're just waiting for FW to get around to publishing lists for the 1st legion. Likely everything you build will be applicable there as well so it's like getting an entire free army :)
