I'm sure this question has been asked before and may be subject to an errata already. Sorry if it has. Why bother with a Standard Leman Russ when a Vanquisher is identical, in stats and cost, but has a 2+ AT rather than a 4+? I may have to get converting quickly... at least it's an easy one to do. |

Don’t all the Imperial Guard lists restrict the number of Vanquishers you can take? |

Well most lists (actually all IIRC) have serious limitations on the numbers you can take. For instance Steel Legion is limited to one per Tank Company. Minervans can have up to two but they're pricey. DKoK cannot even take them at all. |

I think the OP refers to the Vanquisher being optional for no cost in the Steel Legion list. I do not know the reason for this, but maybe the designers did not want to exclude old players' collections on account of a new model. Anyway, the Leeman Russ Company sold (still) by GW has the Vanquisher in it. /Fredmans |

The Steel Legion list only allows one (even the list in the E:A rulebook, which refers to it as a command tank). I think the Vanquisher model was new for the Epic: Armageddon release - I've never seen or heard of old Vanquisher models. |

Thanks for all your responses. I think I've worked out the issue. I am using a NetEA experimental list. I use the Saranes Expanse list which allows me to use Marines and Guard, mixed. To build this I've used the online army creator: http://traitor-legion.appspot.com/choos ... sade_NETEA This allows me, when selecting Imperial Crusade Tank Company, to change all of the Russ' to Vanquishers, for no cost. After your responses I've double checked the PDF (NetEA-ArmyCompendiumS1.2) and it clearly says 'One Leman Russ may be upgraded to a Leman Russ Vanquisher +25 points'. It's an error on the Force Creator, and has screwed up my list slightly. I'm glad I checked this before fielding it. Sadly I'm guessing the PDF is correct and will now be fielding 10 Russ' rather than 10 Vanquishers (boo). I've posted this issue on the ArmyForge Thread. Thanks for all your help here. |

Fluffwise the Vanquisher cannon should have worse AP (kind of 6+) compared to the allrounder battle cannon, since it is basicly meant for tank hunting (AT2+)... but I'm not army champion and stuff. Currently in the NetE:A Steel Legion it is no reason to not take the free vanquisher as it has no drawbacks at all. |
