hello all! A tournament happening in a month in a close city and me and some friends are going down to play and I'm looking for some feed back from people. I dont know what kinda epic tournament scene im going to so I want to take a general all purpose list. I got almost every army this is but Im thinking bel'tan or steel legion, mostly due to those armies have the most models painted and i have the most experience with them and in terms of games- do good with eldar and fairly good with guard. I have 2 list i can up with (first draft) , tell me what you think! (3000p) 1 regiment HQ -hydra 50- 550 1 tank company - 650 1 infantry platoon - griffon battery 75, sniper 25 - 350 1 sentinel squad - 100 1 sentinel squad - 100 1 sentinel squad - 100 1 artillery battery - 250 1 shadow sword - 200 1 warhound - 275 1 warhound - 275 1 thunderbolt squad - 150 1 wraith gate - 50 1 Avatar 1 aspect warrior host - 4 dire avengers, 4 fire dragons, Autarch 75 -375 1 guardian warhost - 150 - 3 heavy weapons 1 guardian warhost - 150 - 3 heavy weapons 4 rangers - 100 5 swords of vaul - 250 - 3 falcons, 2 firestorms 1 windrider troupe - 200 1 windrider troupe - 200 1 night spinner troupe - 175 1 cobra - 250 1 voidspinner - 250 1 revenant titans - 650 1 vampire raider - 200 |

We have two other Biel Tan players so I vote for Guard :-) |

both lists look very light on air cover, any idea of the local tournament meta regarding aircraft? I play steel legion constantly and wouldn't feel comfortable with any less than 4/5 hydras and at least one flight of thunderbolts.... If I were playing against that guard list, I would take out your artillery and sentinels as prime targets, you have 4 activations tied up in very fragile units, once they are gone it's easy to out-activate the rest of the force |

There won't be a lot of air cover. Most of the local players are relatively new to the game |

Ya, I knew there wasn't much AA in either lists. Other then a gunship or two I don't play against much aircraft up here. And now that I know that there won't (in theory) be too much in cow town im ok with just a few AA units. The other army I was thinking was orks but I don't play them much and don't have what I would want for a good list (shit tones of flame trucks) but I do have 10ish fightas and 10+ flak trucks. Pixel , what armies are registerd so far from down there? O and the two I'm bringing are marines. LaTd and necrons are also possible armies I can do to full effect... Hmm maybe I'll look at my other stuff |

Of the two lists, the Eldar is probably stronger. The IG list has three 'strong' formations, but the remainder will be relatively easy to kill off leaving the list out-activated and potentially out manoeuvered. I would suggest merging two sentinels and shuffling other points around to have 10 formations, possibly with two TBolt formations, not for extra air cover, but rather to give you extra activations that can pick off broken enemy formations. |
