Hi everyone, a friend and I inherited a huge lot of Epic Armageddon stuff from a friend who was just going to throw it away! Looking for resources I came across this site. I am building a Space Marine force using the rulebook from the GW site with all the updates and I'm trying to build a good all comers army. We've done all the scenarios in the book and I think I have a good grasp on the rules. Here's what I want to build up. Tactical Detachment with Supereme Commander and Hunter Tactical Detachment with Hunter Terminator Detachment with Chaplain Terminator Detachment 2 scout detachments Land Speeders Bike Detachment with one or two attack bikes Whirlwind Detachment Predator Annihilator Detachment Thundebolt Squadron That's 11 activations and 3,000 points exactly but I was thinking of dropping the Thunderbolts for more upgrades or another scout detachment. What do you think? Any comments or critiques? Thanks! |

no titans?!.... does not compute!... The only thing I've found with marines is mostly to ignore upgrades, don't go mad on them, just take a detachment and add one or two additional upgrades (i.e. a character and a hunter, that's it.. if the hunter isn't available then just a character. If the unit really won't make the most of the character then ditch it.) Upgrades cost points, points spent on upgrades = less points spent on activations So based on that, I'd keep the thunderbolts, they're handy for placing blast markers on opposing detachments / prepping for assaults etc. and are a relatively cheap activation in the grand scheme of things ![]() |

I try and aim for a SM battle Company as starting point so 2 Tactical formations, 1 Devastator zand 1 Assault. Add 1 Captain (in Tactical), 1 Librarian (in Devastator) and 1 Chaplain (in Assault). Also like taking 1 Scout and at least 1 Terminator (also with Chaplain). other than that the only upgrades I would take are Hunters. Looks like a nice spread of units you have. Cheers James |

Rulebook list? IMO: Start with 4 Warhound Titans @250pts each they were a steal. Drop the Predators, they were overpriced. Only take 1 attack bike with the Biker formation. |

I'm a big fan of air drops, and specialized units. I would take at least one Thunderhawk gunship loaded up with a unit of assault marines and unit of devastators. Terminators are great....I almost never leave home without them......but two units of terminators hit hard but are not very mobile after their initial hit so I'd only take one unit of them. If you drop the second terminator unit and the second tactical unit you would have the points for a T-hawk, devastator, and assault units. On the other hand, if you take the advice of Evil&Chaos and drop the preds then you would be able to take an empty Thunderhawk to pick up the termies after their attack and drop them somewhere needed later in the game. Also, as E&C said....Warhound titans make marines much more threatening. If you want to completely rework your list, they can do wonders for you win/loss ratio. I don't know about taking four.....but I'd at least take two. |
