hey, wondering if I can get some constructive criticism of the following list I'm intending to take to FSA in a couple of weeks.... REGIMENTAL HQ [550] Supreme Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra SUPER-HEAVY TANK COMPANY [600] 3 Baneblade, 2 Ogryns, Hydra SUPER-HEAVY TANK COMPANY [550] 3 Shadowsword, Hydra STORM TROOPER PLATOON [200] 8 Storm Troopers ARTILLERY BATTERY [250] 3 Basilisks FLAK BATTERY [150] 3 Hydra THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts WARHOUND TITAN [275] WARHOUND TITAN [275] I'm quite limited on miniatures at present, I could perhaps pick up another formation of t-bolts, some vultures or something else, but I don't have any more infantry to use.... |

Personally I wouldn't tend to take Baneblades to EpicUK events as they use rather underpowered stats. |

I've been warned, but unfortunately I've not got any more infantry to stick another mech inf company in to replace them.... ![]() I've done pretty well with them so far playing EUK stats, and I'm playtesting increasing the HB to AP4+ with the EUK guys at the moment, while I'm aware this is meaningless in context of the tournament, I thought it was worth mentioning and the models themselves are so awesome that I'd use them anyway ![]() |

Quote: I'm playtesting increasing the HB to AP4+ with the EUK guys at the moment, while I'm aware this is meaningless in context of the tournament, I thought it was worth mentioning Are they using the upgraded main gun too? (AP3+ / AT3+) because even with that and the heavy bolters, it's barely equal to the Shadowsword IMO. With just the "half" upgraded gun that EUK use (AP3+ / AT4+), and single Heavy Bolters, well, the tournament stats show that armies with Baneblades in them tend to lose a lot more than they win. Anyways, as long as you're aware that they're pretty lacklustre, it sounds like you don't really have much flexibility in model availability anyway. ![]() I'd put the Ogryns with the Shadowswords, as they're more vulnerable to Engagements, and your opponents will target them before they target the Baneblades, because the Baneblades are comparatively less dangerous. |

I've found them to do ok. In the context of this list they should work well |

I don't think they want to use the AT3+ on the main gun..... I'll keep nagging them though and dptdexys is pretty good at letting me try stuff out (he looks at it as a handicap I think.... ![]() I'll try the ogryns with the shadowswords out this week, I think overall, they would probably both benefit, but then you've got 2 BTS formations expect me to be doing something about my lack of infantry on payday ![]() |

Quote: I don't think they want to use the AT3+ on the main gun... Didn't think so. Pity, as the AT upgrade tends to make Baneblades a bit more useful on turn 1 (but still nowhere near the power of a Shadowsword due to range, TK, etc). Quote: I'll try the ogryns with the shadowswords out this week, I think overall, they would probably both benefit, They would, but Shadowswords are prime airbourne assault or teleport targets, whilst Baneblades are a bit better there (4.5 hits versus 3 hits in Engagements). More Engagement hits, plus less ranged combat danger, makes Baneblades less tasty than Shadowswords as Engagement targets IMO, so I'd look to protect them from Engagement attacks with the Ogryns. |

Do you have a plan to win with the 3 companies and the warhounds? I think the rest will get picked on and removed/broken quickly and it will depend on how the big 5 go as to how your games go. |

I'm thinking garrison the stormtroopers in deep cover on an objective, with a commissar they should be quite difficult to dig out, and if the opponent makes a special effort, they're not shooting at the mech inf or warhounds, the shadowswords will keep singling/doubling forwards keeping as wide fire arcs as possible and attempt to sit on an objective, the mech inf and warhounds will try to survive to T3 and remain within doubling distance of the opponent's blitz and my own. At Rug's suggestion, the hydra battery will sit on OW to guard my artillery, then they can threaten the blitz on T3, assuming they are largely ignored..... baneblades will act as a sturdy blitz guard kudos to Rug for the advice and help so far..... ![]() |

well I've got at least 2 test games to try the list out before FSA, so I can tweak it to suit..... next purchase will be at least another mech inf company, but that will have to wait for now |

From my point of view I'd swop one of Baneblades with a Shadowsword. This gives both formations a titan killer shot. |

If you can talk someone into giving you a game playing corners I'd recommend doing so as I think some canny opps my elect to try that against your army. |

one final question, in the superheavy company with the ogryns, is it better to have the commissar in a tank or with the ogryns? I've been playing with him in the tank so far, but are there any compelling reasons to put him in the ogryns? |
